Lee Corso‘s game day headgear pick record is pretty good.

286 wins and 144 losses (66.5%).
11-0 in 1999.

I know a lot of them had one team heavily favored. But still, this is pretty damn good.

Just watched the ESPN special on Corso, the end definitely got to me. Next week will feel like another part of my childhood dying.

Same here. It prompted me to look up his record and post it here.

Watched it as well. Cracked up at the no curfew for the bowl game part.

This Wishbone documentary is great too

Is tomorrow his last day doing it? Or is it the following week?

Yep. I almost got teary eyed. He was a staple for my 90’s youth, as I was obsessed with CFB as a whole. I remember watching gameday when he made the first headgear pick.

You can tell that the guy’s heart and soul is poured into the game, and making it fun. You can also tell that Kirk legitimately loves the guy.

God I miss old school college football. The authentic excitement of waking up to college gameday knowing that a bunch of schools were carrying their pride against rivals (minor and major ones) for a battle on the gridiron.

Now it’s all NIL and playoffs and television commercials. Bunch of wimps.

Yeah it sucks how the coaches/schools/conferences/ncaa kept getting more and more greedy to the point it just became too too glaringly obvious how much money they were making.

In 2001 Miami wins the national championship and Larry Coker gets a 5 year contract extension for $5.25 million total.

In 2010 Auburn wins a national championship and Gene Chizik gets a 5 year contract worth $3.5 million annually with incentives potentially adding another $1 million

In 2017 Texas A&M signed Jimbo Fisher to a 10-year, $75 million contract.
