1968: 11-0 #3 AP Won Orange Bowl
1969: 11-0 #2 AP Won Orange Bowl
1973: 12-0 #2 AP Won Orange Bowl
1994: 12-0 #2 AP Won Rose Bowl

As much right as Auburn does. But could you imagine the backlash if Penn State claimed it?

The same as Auburn claiming theirs.

They were the best team in each of those years.

I like a good alter. But you appear to be a lame and awful one. Shame

They refused to play #1 Texas in the Cotton Bowl in 69.
94 was karma for 82.

We as a country got absolutely hosed on missing out a national championship clash in 1994 between Penn State and Nebraska.
Same with 1997 Michigan and Nebraska.
Funny enough, Tom Osborne used teasing retirement in 1994 and actual retirement post 1997 to guarantee he got at least a piece of those championships.

You think Nebraska would win but you don't know that. On paper, 1992 Alabama had no business beating champion Miami by 3 touchdowns but they sure did. Bama was supposed to be too slow.

Bama had 4 first rd picks on defense, including 3 in the draft months later, so that perception was dumb. If anything 94 Penn St was led by it's offense, which Timmie Frazier and crew would've matched.
Colorado finished #3 with their only loss being Nebraska. Miami was #3 going into the Orange Bowl which they lost to Nebraska. Penn St's best wins ended up being 4 loss teams.

The ironic thing for Penn State is that joining the Big 10 in 1993 was supposed to prevent things like this for them. No more 1968, 1969 and 1973 situations because now they weren't independent.

But joining the Big 10 meant they were obligated to play in the Rose Bowl against the Pac 10 champ.

I'm not sure who would've won. PSU was absolutely stacked. It would've been epic.

They need to get Auburns AD or SID on staff, maybe they can conjure up some natty's for Penn State like they did for Auburn.

I agree. Their option wasn’t being stopped easily at during 94-95.

Where was the SEC speed in the Nebraska/Florida Fiesta Bowl blowout?

You do realize UF beat LSU by like 45 points that year, right?

Tom Osborne's career is interesting to me considering the greatest success was after 20 years and comparing if that would be even possible in today's age without being fired 10 years earlier.

He wasn't even ever "bad" either. Just shows how expectations are not rational.

The uppity Rose Bowl not being part of the Bowl Coalition can be thanked for this travesty. Penn State should have played Nebraska.

I mean they don’t let you rape kids if you aren’t putting a great team on the field year after year. Joe Pa was legit.

Wrong. The Cotton bowl wanted(and got Notre Dame). The reason LSU didn’t go to any bowl that year. Penn State wanted Texas but the Cotton didn’t want to risk a loss.
