The Rise and Fall of Marvel

The FB algorithm has been showing me a lot of clips from the early Marvel movies. Mainly stuff from End Game.
There are SO many good movies in the franchise in the beginning. Starting with Iron Man, all the way through End Game there are very few flops, and most of them are excellent, or at least fun.
Post End Game, things just went to shite. It's sad really.

Completely disagree. The infinity saga had a ton of garbage. Audiences are just fatigued with Marvel right now. I think we've gotten over 50 projects since 2008. But I don't see how movies like Thunderbolts, F4, D&W, Spider-Man, GOTG 3 means things have gone to shite. Those movies are as good or better than most of the infinity saga, IMO.

Marvel Rivals is doing really well.
The movies did really well taking over for the comic books.
The future may be in the gaming industry as the movie industry dies like the print industry did before.

Genres have their ebbs and flows. Westerns and comedies come to mind
I don't think the superhero genre disappears so much as becomes much less prevalent. The costs for production should decrease with AI improvement

You picked some mids in a sea of flops though.
GOTG3 is OK, but a bit bloated and the one of the only real standouts. Spider-Man is the other.
But look at the turds:
Wakanda Forever
Doc Strange Multiverse
Eternals
Shang Chi
Thor Love and Thunder
Hawkeye
Moon Knight
She-Hulk
The Marvels
Ant-Man and the Wasp
Ms. Marvel
That's a lot of disappointment there

Calling Shang Chi a turd invalidates your entire post

It's a turd Chuckles.

Marvel and Star Wars will never recreate the fervor of their early years.

There were definitely some mediocre to outright bad movies certainly more than there had been but that was only one factor in what's killing the MCU
For the Infinity Saga there was a strong sense of a core as well as connectivity between the movies. We knew the two main cores being the Avengers and Guardians. And even with the solo movies we knew or had an idea of what everyone else was up to. We also knew that it was all leading up to something which happened to be Thanos
For this saga, everything has been stretched incredibly thin there's way too many things for the GA to need to watch. The introduction of the Disney+ shows was a terrible idea even if we got some solid ones like Loki.
Also unlike the Infinity Saga there it no central story moving along. Things just seem to happen randomly with mentions of the multiverse and incursions.
There is also no central core here minus the Guardians. The Avengers are gone and there is no Earth team. Wakanda is doing its own thing, Carol is off world, Peter is doing college shite on his own, Sam is on Earth but isn't connected with anyone really at this point, we got the Thunderbolts but they were just introduced, Hulk is somewhere, Thor is off world. Nothing seems connected anymore and most of the GA is clueless on what everyone is doing for the most part.
We also have superhero fatigue setting in especially in key places like Asia. Despite the strong fan and critics reviews to Thunderbolts, Superman, and Fantastic Four they're not exactly killing at the Box Office.

Standard Hollywood procedure is to slap together lower grade schlock for sequels hoping to make $$$ off of the coattails of the superior quality of the earlier films.

I disagree. I think there's going to be a future for well-made fan-created content as doing so gets easier and cheaper to make as AI advances. Cinematics which were truer to the comics but only the realm of game cutscenes could be made into full-blown movies. If they get enough play (see: the released Deadpool CGI), they could move the market.
From there (if it succeeds), it wouldn't be long for other movie genres to be adapted (especially horror).

I don't watch the Disney plus shows, so I can't comment on those. But these movies are no worse than Captain Marvel, Thor 2, the Iron man sequels, Dr Strange, the Ant Man movies, etc.

You don't think Hawkeye ended up playing second fiddle to his sidekick?

Yes, and no. But that was kinda the point and consistent with the comics

Thor: Suck & Thunder was on a completely different level of bad.
