Are HBCUs a problem?

Seems like they are just an echo chamber for radical ideology and victim mentality to grow. They are essentially segregated by choice. God knows what they teach in there. A lot of the the black politicians come through the hbcu route (because it's much easier). I think this is a much larger problem than people think. I dont think we should shut them down by force, but i do think we should stop the government funding.

Integration is the problem. HBCUs the answer.

That won’t happen until after the mid terms.

you can say that about most universities, no?

I’m asking, not making a point : are they really any more radical than regular colleges & universities?

Yes
I read somewhere, not long ago, that of the 300k black women who have lost their government and NGO jobs since Trump took office .... 41% of them have degrees from HBCUs.
Now that may not seem that high until you take into account that 27% of the 300k had no degrees at all.
Yet that segment of our population routinely refers to themselves as "the most educated class of people (black women) in the history of the country."

They underperform and do not give a segment of our population the education that they direly need. They also suffer from lack of alumni support so it isn't completely their fault

Nothing...they provide a horrible education and most just steal attendees money. Add to this they are often run down... it's just a terrible ROI to attend an HBCU.... the presidents of these universities are getting away with robbery.

Football players with felony charges need a place to display their NFL talent.

The regular colleges & universities definitely have a liberal agenda, and that is a separate problem, but this one is strictly founded in race. It's different.

While true, the average HBCU student is very unprepared for college. I think the average ACT score at Southern is 17.
It’s why some of these schools aren’t rigorous.

Back in the 1970s they were important because although colleges were integrated the entrance requirements were too high for many black HS graduates. IE, if you had an ACT of 10 you couldn't get into LSU but you were admitted to Grambling. I'm not sure what the admissions requirements are now.

I dont have an issue per se, but philosophically speaking, any race-based program is wrong and should not exist.
Racism is 90% fantasy and 10% reality, therefore we will never rid ourselves of it if we never stop obsessing over it. Morgan Freeman was right.

Unfortunately, the democRATs forced our education system to lower itself to their level rather than forcing them to come up to ours.
So the answer to your question is that all standards have been lowered in the name of equality and liberal progressive (sic: Marxist) sensibilities. That is counter intuitive to actual human progress.

We dont need people with 10s on the ACT going to college. Hell we dont even need most of the other colleges in Louisiana.

I think HBCUs will get better students since DEI is ending.

They're a drain.
A total waste of money.
Most alumni have incredibly self inflated sense of worth.

quote:We have 4 and 3 are public. I would say our private one is a bit more radical than the public. The Ayers case settled some years ago puts the 3 public HBCU on the same footing as Ole Miss, MSU and Southern Miss. There is no way to reduce public funding and we are stuck with them. I don't hear much from Valley or Alcorn graduates but JSU certainly puts out some doozies. `

The problem for most of them is that they no longer have a reason to exist other than as ATMs for student loans and federal grants.
The upper end ones may actually have some research going on to make them a positive in some way but SWAC level schools are not good and then you have ones below that in quality like SUNO.
