Ahead of a September set trial start, Disney and Gina Carano have put down their light sabers over the former MMA fighter’s discrimination lawsuit over her 2021 firing from The Mandalorian.

In a joint filing today in federal court, the Star Wars series star and the Bob Iger run conglomerate asked for the year and a half old Elon Musk backed legal action to be dismissed.

While no specific details on the settlement have been revealed, like is she getting her Rebel shock trooper Cara Dune role back as desired, clearly Disney and Carano are back in business. To that, a source close to Carano told me she is “happy with how things were dealt with.”

There is no word from the social media active Carano, yet.

quote:

“The Walt Disney Company and Lucasfilm are pleased to announce that we have reached an agreement with Gina Carano to resolve the issues in her pending lawsuit against the companies,” a spokesperson said Thursday. “Ms. Carano was always well respected by her directors, co-stars, and staff, and she worked hard to perfect her craft while treating her colleagues with kindness and respect.”

In case you had any doubt who was the victor here, let the last sentence of the Disney and Lucasfilm statement hit you – hard. “With this lawsuit concluded, we look forward to identifying opportunities to work together with Ms. Carano in the near future.”

I wanted discovery and a full, unconditional apology.

But good on Gina.

Right wins again.

Good for her. I hope she got a boatload of money.

You have any evidence to the contrary? She was well spoken of back she she played Angel Dust in Deadpool.

Kinda seems like you're posting memes without knowing why.

Disney didn’t want a trial to publicly expose internal communications which would have exposed the woke trash they are and how much they hate average Americans.

Why would you think that? I remember him having her back when everything went down during the Mandalorian
November 2020

On her co-star Pascal, she said: “I adore Pedro. There’s so much love there still. I know he’s said and done some hurtful things. But we had an agreement after we realised we were a little bit politically different.

“We had an agreement that, first and foremost, you’re a human being. And you’re my friend first. We’re both passionate – we just think a little bit differently.”

I’m not saying that. Maybe I’m misremembering but I don’t remember many people coming out to publicly support her when all that happened. Am I wrong on that?

Hopefully this means her character can make a return... well, assuming it's attached to an actually decent project. Even The Mandalorian got pretty bad there at the end.

Wouldn't be that they too were fearful of being canceled?

The silver lining is that she was pushed out of the plane while it was at it's peak and will always be associated with a well-remembered part of a once great franchise. And it turns out she had a parachute after all.

Didn't others (like even Pascal?) post worse shite than Carano back around the same time, with zero repercussions? And it would seem like you'd support someone that you cared about if it meant doing the right thing...and without being political too.

Yeah, but it was considered the "right side of history" so it was justified.
