Looks like the 2nd Space Race is on. The US plans on building a nuclear reactor on the moon within the next 5 years. The reason they are rushing is because the United States and China want the same spot on the moon.

“Nuclear Moon” sounds like some kind of Asian grunge band

Your local electric company will be adding a "Space Reactor" fee to your bill.

Can we even fly to the moon?

I thought we "lost" that technology

Good luck with that.

NASA is having issues getting to the moon with modern technology, much less in 5 years.

The true worth of AI and AGI is going to be known in the next 5 years. If all the hullabaloo over AI and AGI is warranted then one would think AI and AGI could produce the solution to cheap, environmentally safe and affordable energy, such as fusion.

Can someone explain the need for a nuclear reactor on the moon?

There's a pretty big nuclear fusion process near by that can be captured. Any vehicle that reaches the moon doesn't run on electricity if refuelling is the purpose. Maybe I'm just being dense.

Reagan had Russia believing that we were going to have space lasers shooting down their nukes. I think this is Trump's version of Star Wars.

I want to know how they're going to build it, cool it and maintain it. It'll be really awesome when a meteorite blows a hole through it and we have a meltdown.

NASA is a joke. Elon will have to save them again most likely. They can’t even get to space much less land on the moon.

Pretty sure they're not mutually exclusive since neither NASA nor SpaceX has any plans to build any reactors.

Who are they kidding? The U.S. can't even build a nuclear reactor on Earth within 5 years!
