Anyone ever done their own aluminum patio covers coming off the fascia? I feel like it couldn’t be that hard. Just not sure where to order the materials from? Assuming you can buy them in a kit?

I ordered mine through Aluminum Specialties in BTR

Not hard to do.
As long as you can figure wind up light spacing on the gauge panel used and the framing. Otherwise be prepared to hunt for blown panels and replace the entire structure after each storm.

A buddy of mine owns Area Vinyl Siding Materials in Walker and I know he sells patio covers to DIYs. Custom sizes and helps you figure out a material list and how to tips.
He has his daughter and son working with him and they are all a great family.

I've had one for over ten years and it's been through a few severe thunderstorms with high winds as well as a direct hit from Ida when it was a cat 2, in addition to Hurricane Francine which brought me 60-70 mph wind gusts and it hasn't budged. If a 50mph wind hits it from the right angle though, poof.

An engineered system covers all contingencies.
The gauge of the metal used in the panel determines the spacing of the framework, as does the panel design.
I argued with our engineer about frames, spacing etc. “2x4 wood does not equal rolled C channel 20 ga steel. He got permission to test the frame and panels. Sales picked up.
