I’m going to hold off on my table predictions until the roster is settled.

That being said, this is a better / deeper version of last season.

The experience gained has been very beneficial.

While I believe that this team is capable of winning multiple EPL titles, to do so this year would be surprising to me. It will take a healthy campaign and a bit of luck.

As for the Champions League, I actually like our chances better there than in the league.

We are young enough not to realize that we aren’t supposed to win it.

Lastly, I predict at least one trophy this year (FA Cup?), maybe two (League Cup. or dare I say it…Champions League?).

I have been steadfast in my positive outlook on the Blues.

I see no reason not to be bullish on the squad for this upcoming year.

To win now, we need a world class CB, a world class keeper, and cover out left (unless Jackson plays out there as well up top, or…Mudryk comes back sooner than expected).

My current thoughts positionally

Keeper
1 GK Spain ESP Robert Sánchez
2 GK Denmark DEN Filip Jörgensen

CB
1 DF England ENG Levi Colwill
2 DF France FRA Wesley Fofana
DF England ENG Trevoh Chalobah
DF England ENG Tosin Adarabioyo
DF France FRA Benoît Badiashile

Right Back
1 DF England ENG Reece James (captain)
2 DF France FRA Malo Gusto

Left Back
1 DF Spain ESP Marc Cucurella
2 DF ?????? (Hato?)

Right “wing”
1 MF Portugal POR Pedro Neto
2 MF Brazil BRA Estêvão

Left “wing”
1 MF England ENG Jamie Gittens
2 MF ? (Jackson / George / Simons?)

Center Mids
1 MF Ecuador ECU Moisés Caicedo (3rd captain)
1 MF Argentina ARG Enzo Fernández (vice-captain)
2 MF Belgium BEL Roméo Lavia
2 MF Brazil BRA Andrey Santos

Attacking Mids
1 MF England ENG Cole Palmer
2 MF Brazil BRA João Pedro
3 MF England ENG Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall

Up top
1 FW Brazil BRA João Pedro
2 FW England ENG Liam Delap
3 FW Senegal SEN Nicolas Jackson

As for the rest of the roster, they will either be loaned out, sold, or get sporadic minutes. That includes talented players such as George, Guiu, Essugo, and Acheampong.

Our roster issues imho:

1. We lack consistent quality in goal
2. We lack cover for Cuch
3. We lack cover for Gittens
4. We are YOUNG at CB

Hopefully 2 and 3 are addressed in this transfer window (Simons / Hato?)

As for 1 and 4, Maresca seems willing to roll with things as is.

If 2 and 3 are addressed, we with have quality (or top shelf potential) everywhere on the pitch.

Any rumors on any we potentially might get.

Sadly I don’t see a GK coming in with Sanchez performance in CWC.

In the few days after beating PSG, I heard/read numerous comments to the effect of, “Chelsea fans are really going to call themselves world champions for the next four years, aren’t they?”

Yes we are. And they would, too, if it was their team.

A lot of chatter lately. Hato looks like a done deal. Felix looks gone. Simons is close. KDH to Fulham looks likely which I don’t like as he was a solid rotational guy for us and Enzo liked him. We still seem to have interest in Garnacho for some reason. ManU is interested in Jackson and we’ve valued him at 80-100MM. I’d be cool with hit if we got that kind of money for him although I know he can help this team. Carney looks to be gone as well. Still lots to unload.

Why undo all the goodwill built over the summer?

Given the price of less proven forwards as of late, that is actually a low number imho.

I would suggest 100-120MM is the appropriate range.

That’s also why I would not sell him at this juncture.

By January, I believe that we get the 120MM from a desperate big club.

I mean, isn’t he only like 21 years old?

He has starts on the left (16). right (12), and center (22) in his last 50 matches.

He could provide depth at three positions.

If the money is right, he isn’t a bad option imho.

Maresca seems to think that we already have him…Wesley Fofana. Provided, of course, that he isn’t injured for an extended period of time (yet again).

Any rumors on a new keeper?

I also like garnocho he brings energy and grit. In my limited opinion ( I have not watched him extensively).

I mean,

Caicedo and James were out for a year. They came back and were instrumental in this years success. I’m assuming that Fofana will eventually recover.

At this point though, you are right and that he seems to be made of glass.

Maresca seems happy with Sanchez. As such, I don’t see us signing one.

Yeah, he is a bit of a shithouser.

I don’t mind that aspect of his game. His versatility, and age, make him an attractive target.

Him being run off from
Man U is a bonus.

I would imagine that it is a humbling experience, and one that will motivate.
