She kindly explains to her that Trump’s specific plans are not before the Court and that her decision is supposed to be based on the legality, not her personal approval.

The US Constitution does not require a person to have a law degree to become appointed to the Supreme Court. There is also no age or citizenship requirements. The Constitution only requirements are that they are nominated by the President and that they go through Senate confirmation.
There have been several who were not trained lawyers and had no formal law education mostly because law school didn't exist until the late 18th and 19th centuries. Most people read the law and studied/mentored/apprenticed under scholars, lawyers and judges and then passed bar exams. The last person nominated without going to law school was Justice Robert H Jackson who served from 1941-1954.
Seems to me that the qualifications ought to be updated to include law degree and a citizen
