Publix Fried Chicken - Why the Hype?

I've had it a dozen times, it's basic level grocery store fried chicken, and people all over the internet, for 20 years, have been raving about it. It absolutely is not better than any of the fried chicken chains. Has every publix I've ever been to been a "bad" Publix? Is there a particular time of day to go when it comes right out of the fryer? I don't understand this obsession people have with Publix grocery store fried chicken.
Today was the worst I've ever experienced.
In the parking lot-
The batter doesn't even stick to the damn chicken!
You people out there who swear up and down by Publix Fried Chicken, get your arse in here and answer for this. Make your case. This is your day in court. Otherwise, henceforth, Publix shall be known as the shittiest fried chicken in the South.

Publix is the Ed Hardy shirt of grocery stores.

Personally, I’ve never had bad fried chicken or tenders from Publix.

Don’t buy the pre-boxed. Get one of the workers to get you the fresh chicken.

Believe it or not Winn Dixie has some damn fine fried chicken.. And their chicken stripes are good too...

Only thing grosser than that chicken is the dirt under your thumbnail.
Publix chicken is still great tho.

Publix chicken has been staggeringly salty every time we’ve purchased it here. We’ve tried it three different times over several years and it’s trash. Nearest Popeyes is 38 miles away unfortunately

Your Publix might suck. Ours is great. They also have a window on the box where you can look at what you're getting, you could make better choices.
Publix and Kroger both have good fried chicken by me, I got some today for the boys. I am trying not to help eat it.

Super 1 Foods will be hard to beat for that title.

I’ve never heard of someone raving about their regular fried chicken.
But the hot and spicy breaded wings are legit.

Agreed…and I enjoy salty food. Kroger’s fried chicken is far superior.

It’s probably like the fried chicken from Winn Dixie, if it’s hot and fresh it can be pretty good. Not so much if it’s been sitting there for several hours.

If you get some chicken from Rouses fresh out the fryer its pretty damn good.

Albertson’s/Krogers has legit good fried chicken for a chain grocery store.
