Ok, let's have some fun...

Claim by the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU):
The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU), in coordination with the Special Operations Forces (SOF) of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, conducted a joint special operation that resulted in the destruction of two Russian SU-34 fighter-bombers at the Marynivka airfield in Russia’s Volgograd region. In addition, two more aircraft were significantly damaged.
These SU-34s are multifunctional fighter-bombers actively used by Russian forces along the frontline, including for launching guided aerial bombs (KABs) against Ukrainian positions.
The strike was carried out using long-range drones operated by Ukrainian SOF and SBU units. As a result of the operation, a fire broke out in the airfield’s technical and maintenance facility—an infrastructure critical to the functioning of the Russian military base.
This facility is responsible for preparing aircraft for missions, conducting routine maintenance, and performing repairs.

While not specifying the exact extent of Russian aviation losses caused by a joint strike carried out by Ukraine’s SBU (Security Service of Ukraine) and Special Operations Forces (SOF) on a Russian military airfield in Marynivka, Volgograd region, a Russian source connected to military aviation acknowledged that the damage was significant:
“There’s no point in commenting on Marynivka. Another round of multibillion-ruble losses that could and should have been prevented. And it would be nice if not only the Ukrainians were held responsible for this. Otherwise, this will just keep happening.”
quote:
SU34K is the only plane in the Russian inventory that can launch Kynzhal air-launched ballistic missiles. They had ~25, of which about half are flight-ready at any time.
Kynzhal is one of Russia's most effective weapons.

This is not the first time Russians suffer Su-34 losses on the Marynivka military airfield as a result of a drone strikes. Previous attack on Marynivka was carried out almost a year ago

The drone attack hit a 21-story building, causing a fire on the 7th, 8th, and 9th floors that left residents trapped in their apartments. First responders rescued five people, including a small child.
Two people, a married couple, were killed in the attack, Odesa Oblast Governor Oleh Kiper reported. Emergency workers recovered their bodies from the damaged building.
At least 14 other civilians were injured, including three children. Both are receiving treatment in medical facilities, Kiper said.

Quite the contrary. Now watch and learn what Trump does next. He has had the dominos fall into place, in large thanks to Israel.
Niall Ferguson stated that Trump laid the hammer down on Putin in a recent phone call. This was after Putin offered to mediate a peace deal between the US and Iran. Putin might want to look for someplace to move too

Well, while we're waiting, here's something for the insomniacs in the audience -
quote:
The collapse of the Russian real estate market is gaining momentum. Cement production in May: -10% y/y (Jan-May: -6.5% y/y) The crisis has spread to all related industries.
quote:
Production in May, y/y
furniture: -15%
household appliances: -20%
lamps and lighting equipment: -20%
tiles: -18%
building ceramic materials: -18%
these data are late, I think that the sale of new housing has already dropped by 30-40%, and maybe even 50%

I will add, production in May, y/y
washing machines: -35%
refrigerators: -21%
TVs: -35%
facade ceramic tiles: -13%
floor ceramic tiles: -25%

paints and varnishes: -6%

For over two years all we’ve heard is how the war is over. Russia is grinding Ukraine down. The US doesn’t care. Europe is bailing. A Russian breakthrough is happening. Wait til the Summer offensive, Russian units will roll.
When does Summer begin in Ukraine? We just had the longest day. July is almost here; yet Ukraine is still torching Russian bombers. Russian gains are measured in small increments; while body counts are over 900 per day.
NATO just concluded an historic meeting with Trump successfully pushing the alliance to man up, to build up and to counter any Russian threats. Putin’s adventure is becoming more and more of a debacle. Not only has he weakened his country, but he’s gotten his “enemies” to build up their militaries.
Sure Iran and Israel are big news. So is the BBB, the SC decisions, and the stock market.
But this old man can follow more than one story at a time. Ukraine needs to be discussed.
But not spammed.

More bad news for Russia
The Central Bank decided to start issuing repos to banks again on April 15, which coincided with a sharp acceleration in the growth of government debt. More details in this article: LINK [" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noreferrer">Vedomosti.ru/finance/quote]
![]()
Note the justaposition of the Liquidity [Treasury Reserve] and the REPO issuance. Yes, you caught that... they are moving in an opposed inversion. When Repos are issued, the revenue goes directly to the Treasury, where it immediately disappears. They are not being repaid.
Here's the Repo independently:
![]()
Repos (Repurchase Agreements) are very short term loans issued by a government Treasury as government securities to major banks and secondary issuers and normally repurchased the next day for a slightly higher price. Don't worry about understanding why the government wants to lose money like this, remember, the government is not a business or a household. They are only interested in a healthy economy, which means (all stand) Money Velocity.![]()
When God wants to know how an economy is doing, He goes to the US Federal Reserve Bank in St. Louis for their monthly report. Money Velocity is the keystone of capitalism - the concept that as money circulates, it increases. If you understand how that happens, you understand everything.
Anyway, back to Moscow... Starting last December, the issuance of Repos went through the ceiling. But as you can see comparing to the earlier Repo sales, the 2025 issues are out of government control.

[quote]Russia's national debt has turned into a classic pyramid. All income goes to debt repayment and interest payments.
Revenue for 5 months — 1.650 trillion rubles
Debt repayment — 0.450 trillion
Service costs — 1.112 trillion
Remainder — 0.087 trillion
In other words, the Russian Treasury is selling Repos but not buying them back. Who is crazy enough to buy them? Well, try telling Putin "no".
quote:
Speaking at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum, Russian Central Bank Governor Elvira Nabiullina said that the Russian economy had been expanding on the back of "free resources," including labor, industrial capacity, bank capital reserves, and liquid assets from the National Wealth Fund (NWF) — all of which are now reportedly nearing depletion.
"We grew for two years at a fairly high pace because free resources were activated," she said. "We need to understand that many of those resources have truly been exhausted."
Note especially that "National Wealth Fund". This is the Russian name for their Treasury Reserve, the only source of finance left for this war. They are reaching or have already reached the bottom of this fund.
So this 'Repo' scam are the agonal breaths of of a collapsing economy. Forced lending to a government in desperation. And the money just disappears. So yeah, government debt increases quickly. These are not Repos anymore, these are just official covers for theft.

More bad news for the Russian economy, as a real construction crisis is now a certainty.
In May, -17% less housing was built year-on-year.
But the worst thing is that the start of new construction in May fell by -29% In just 5 months, new construction fell by -25%.
Certainly an official interest rate of 21% has something to do with this, plus a million young customers not showing up to sign that mortgage doc is problematic as well. What happened to those guys...?

This war could have indeed ended on Jan. 21st if Trump was not BFFs with Putin. Putin counted on Trump getting elected so the Russians held out until that happened. If aid to Ukraine had remained high, Putin would have had no option but to negotiate.
How do I know this? Because we haven’t heard Putin threaten nuclear Armageddon since Trump won the election, even though he was upset with Trump for bombing Iran.
