Why can’t NYC get better mayoral candidates?

They have/had a disgraced former governor and a millennial socialist jihadist that’s never had a job as the front runners. Is there not a NY born and bred businessman willing to step up and throw their hat into the ring?

The Democrats have no bench. They are not interested in developing younger talent because they don’t tolerate dissent. They can’t find enough people who will fall in line 100%.

I think you’re right. This is particularly true on the left where the radicals have taken over the party and their traditional base has moved to the right. If you want to be a candidate you have to appeal to the loons and normal people don’t want to deal with that bullshite.

No offense, but I don't think you gave that question enough thought. What would be the point of running?
New Orleans is about to elect another great entrepreneur, much like the current mayor. You could ask the same question about any thriving metropolis, like Memphis, Baltimore, St. Louis, Oakland, etc.
