Breaking the Coastal streak

I was thinking about the great 2017 run that came up just short because we ran out of gas against that unbelievable and well-rested Florida pitching staff.
When we faced Oregon State in the first elimination game on Wednesday, they had won 23 in a row going all the way back to April. They had absolutely demolished Vandy in their Super Regional on their way to that point, and also beat us 13-1. They had only had four losses the ENTIRE fricking season. That has to be one of the greatest seasons of all time.
Then, LSU happened.

They were something like 56-4 going into the first game too.

Coastal’s arse man their little streak is full of Butthole State’s with losing records. Tigers in 2.

Coastal is really really good but outside of sweeping Auburn in the super and a midweek win against Clemson, that win streak isn’t just filled with killers like Arkansas and LSU. Tigers will overwhelm them with talent, depth and coaching. I feel very confident about this

I think they are going to be some good close games but Anderson and Eyanson will be the best pitchers they have seen all year. And they will struggle if not getting walks.
A winning streak like that at any time is impressive but the best team they played in the entire stretch was a slightly above average Auburn team. Their side of the Omaha bracket was a joke.
Actually sort of funny how LSU has had to beat the 2nd best team in Omaha 2 trips in a row to get to the finals.

Sucks we ran out of gas that season would've been remembered as one of the best considering how it ended and the adversity LSU had to go through.
I think Eyanson matches up well against CC because he doesn't give many HRs up and with the favorable winds projected for hitters, this is big for us with his swing and misses.

Yes, and in 2023, Wake and Florida were all-time good. Like, in most other years, either one of them would have won the title (and probably fairly easily). I think this year's field is a bit off from that unbelievable field (remember, Tennessee was also there, one year away from their own title, and we beat them twice too).

Yea the field was relatively weak this year. The 2023 team would have 5-0 this thing without breaking a sweat.

I’m inclined to agree

I seem to remember playing another team from South Carolina with a 20+ game win streak

Pretty certain it’s the opposite. Winds blowing IN at 20-30mph. There likely won’t be another HR in Omaha this year.

I like it. That year, we also broke Alabama's 31-game home winning streak. Beautiful!!!! A streak that began in September 2015, over four years in the making.

They are going to have to go through a very solid LSU team.

Coastal has been playing at max potential for a while.

Coastal gets HBP the most in the country, 10% more than the next closest.
They are amongst the highest in the country in Sac bunts and batting average.
Their pitching staff does not give up many walks.
They are amongst the best in the country at turning double plays.
Their ERA is about the same as LSU.
The WHIP and k/BB ratio are better than LSU due to so few walks given up.
Their RPI is better than LSU.
Don't be mistaken. It is not a fluke that Coastal is in the finals.
They are a good team.
However, their SoS has not been good -> 49th. vs LSU at 27th.
Warren Nolan has LSU moving up to 15th in predicted SoS.
Coastal only moves up to 41st.
Tigers are rested and battle tested.
Hold the Rope!

in 2017 Oregon state was like 56-4 overall and LSU beat them 2 games straight to knock them off in the CWS and advance to the finals.
Coach Mainieri in an interview said when asked about OSU only having 4 loses all year along the lines of well they have lost 4 times all season so there is a chance. They entered the CWS with only 4 losses all year and ended with 6 loses due to LSU.

I mean, they went on the road and completely dominated the team that swept us.
Trying to discredit their streak at this point is a little ridiculous considering they've kept it alive in the postseason against some really good teams.

I mean to be fair, the first 17 of that streak are:
3- JMU (17-38)
1- UNCG (21-33)
3- App State (23-31)
1 Clemson (
3 ULM (8-23)
3 ODU (22-31)
1 Georgia Southern (28-31)
2 Marshall (33-26)
