I can’t get any enthusiasm for tournament where there is zero room for creativity or risk taking. Just trying to minimize mistakes is not fun to watch.
Maybe purists see something I don’t, but the only memorable shots I’ve seen are the train wrecks.

Thanks for letting us know. We really appreciate it.

Whether boring or exciting, the U.S. Open will crown a champion today, something the Aggies know nothing about.

Any of y’all seen the X post of Oakmont with the trees and Oakmont without?

People love US Open because we get to see the best in the world struggling. They look like the rest of us once a year.
Also watching someone battle against an impossible course is kind of cool. Usually there is a guy or two who stands above them all. This year everyone is struggling.

Johnny Miller shot 76 in the 3rd round at Oakmont and everybody thought he was out of it.
He then came back the next day and shot 63 on a day only 3 other players shot below 70….. He had 9 birdies! He passed Jack Nicklaus, Arnold Palmer and Lee Trevino, who were all in contention, to win the US Open.

Are you kidding? Tiger is in contention, though I’m pulling for Rocco.

Their scrambling and putting this week has been mind blowing. I can’t even tell where they’re aiming…out of the bunker they hit to 45 feet and rolls down the down until it’s 5 feet from the pin. That’s not creativity? The putts have rolled for days. Normally they’re up and down from 130 yards…not here without landing that pitch in a coffee can.

I think they screwed up a great golf course. Same for Pinehurst when the Open went back there. I may be in the minority, but I thought they had evolved to great courses. Oakmont looks like a golf course was built in a cow pasture now.

Burns will never win anything of significance

Pinehurst I agree with, but Oakmont was originally designed as an inland links course. It existed that way for 50 years, then they started planting trees on it after the 1953 US Open.
Oakmont now resembles its original design more than ever.

This didn’t age well, 4 players tied at +1 for the lead.
