I see a sports article from time to time suggesting that this would be in the best interest of the Saints.

Personally, I don't see how that exchange could be in the long-term best interests of the New Orleans Saints football club. That alone worries me that this could actually get done and happen.

We just spent a higher draft pick on a guy who is already in his mid 20s. Cousins could barely move at times last year. We were just fortunate enough to get rid of one mid 30s declining qb. Bringing in another would be the height of stupidity and likely just some bullshite clickbait article to fill content in the offseason.

It's the 2nd dead season off the offseason waiting for training camps to start. There will be speculative articles all over the place so these writers can stay busy and get some clicks on the way. Hell, this one was put out the other day:
Sporting News
quote:

Anthony Palacios of Last Word on Sports believes the 49ers may look to trade star running back Christian McCaffrey to the New Orleans Saints with money getting thin after paying Brock Purdy.

Whoever ends up being the quarterback of this franchise will need extra support in the backfield. Tyler Shough or Spencer Rattler probably won’t be throwing often, so they could keep their arm fresh, but getting someone like McCaffrey to help Alvin Kamara would be the one trade that revives this offense. It’s been a brutal offseason for the Saints, and this move would put them back in the postseason conversations.

I'm a bit worried that the Saints Front Office would want to trade some money and talent to acquire Kirk from the Falcons.

We have no primetime games so Cousins would lead us to a 17-0 record.

Click bait.

After the Derek Carr debacle I believe even Mickey Loomis is smart enough to stay away from the likes of Kirk Cousins and Aaron Rogers.

Just his agent trying to spur interest in his client around the league.

Mickey knows this and will only trade two 1st round picks and only extend Cousins for 6 years. How dare you question the genius that is Loomis.

This wouldn't be helping the saints. They have the leagues most expensive backup they dont want to pay. He ain't good enough at this point to do much more than Carr did.

Atlanta would absolutely trade him here if New Orleans were stupid enough to trade for him.

Roll with what we got and find out if we have something and if we don't Arch Manning will be there. Don't need anymore of these guys on the back 9 who can win some games ,but have proven that they shrink in big moments as a professional.

I'd only take Kirk Cousins on a league minimum for him to groom Shough. It is rare for a QB to get drafted and go into a QB room surrounded by 0-win NFL qbs. (Rare as in, I would be surprised if it has happened more than 3 times in league history).

I want us to tank one more year and also don't want to be on the hook for any of his current salary.
Taking on Kirk's salary and going 7-10 is not the move.
