Copy and pasted- Ketovore is basically keto stripped down to the essentials. It’s all about eating meat, eggs, and animal fats while keeping carbs extremely low so you stay in fat-burning mode. You’re cutting out all the carb-heavy junk and even most vegetables. It’s simple, satisfying, and built around real food.

You eat beef, pork, chicken, fish, shrimp, eggs, bacon, and anything else that walked, swam, or flew. You cook it in butter, tallow, or lard. You salt it well. If you want, you can add a few low-carb extras like leafy greens, avocado, or cucumbers, but you don’t have to. Some folks do a few berries now and then, but most keep it close to zero-carb.

You avoid bread, pasta, rice, sugar, beans, most fruit, and seed oils. Basically, anything processed or full of carbs gets the boot. You don’t need to count macros or track every gram, just eat meat until you’re full, stay under 10 to 20 grams of carbs a day, and let your body run on fat.

Anyhow, I tried carnivore for a couple months granted this was 7-8 years ago and felt bad on it. My brother however loved it. I’ve been on ketovore for a few weeks and feel good. I understand it’s simply not eating bad food and nothing special about it. But it’s another plan people can look into. I like vegetables so I add some to it. I also love fruit but I’m more restricted with that now. I eat some berries here and there.

The biggest mistake I see with people who do Carnivore is they do not get enough fats for energy. Some people who try Carnivore still have this mental block that too much fat is bad for you. The worst things you can put in your body especially in medium to large amounts are sugars or carbohydrates.

Its simple: you need carbohydrates or fats for energy not both. Pick one. Some will do better with fats some with carbs.

This was probably me along with still not drinking enough water back then. I’ve been doing ketovore like I’m supposed to and feel good. Stomach problems first 3-4 days but I was already having stomach issues anyways. Now I have none, best my stomach has felt since I was in grade school and I’m in my 50s. Never had any energy problems starting it, energy was much improved. I’ve been on it maybe 3 weeks and have lost 6lbs so far.

Again, name of diet I agree doesn’t matter. Just cutting out sugar makes a difference. In this one no rice, potatoes and such also. Rice has been somewhat difficult to do as I simply like jumbalaya, gumbo, etc. But now that it’s spring I’m not craving that kind of food.

Mostly, I've just felt better not eating any of that. I'm really not too concerned with losing weight, I feel overall I'm at a healthy weight.

Totally get it. My consumption of those things is more like a treat versus an everyday thing.

I've tried to the complete lockdown no carbs thing and made it about 3 weeks. Did drop some weight and leaned up but didnt feel that great. I kept waiting to breakthrough but never got there.

I call it low carb, but I pretty much eat Ketovore or Carnivore most days.

I had back surgery in 2000 and have had lingering pain and discomfort since then. I got off low carb in 2011 and never got back on it until 2024. When I did, this time, I quickly noticed that most of my pain from back surgery was greatly reduced. I feel a lot better day in and day out. I never noticed it before, but this time, it has been a life changer, so much so I am working towards returning to the gym. I could not do that after surgery.

My results are complicated by underactive thyroid. I may have to force a change in meds with my doctor, or move on, or maybe not at all, but my weight loss has been slow this time, whereas when I was younger, if I'd have stuck to it like this, I'd already of met all my goals.

One difference, probably from getting older, is that I now really don't like carby foods. They sit like a ton of bricks in my gut and if I take a break, like I did recently for Easter, none of that stuff tastes as good as I remember, I have to force myself to eat it, then I am miserable for days afterwards. This really makes all those craving situations a thing of the past, and I am actually not looking forward to family events and holidays because I really just don't want to subject myself to that kind of food anymore.

Just give me a nice medium rare bone in ribeye, let me cook it and eat it, and shut up while I'm doing it and I will be happy. I don't even use Worcestershire anymore.

However, there just isn't a good, or even just bad low carb substitute for beer. They just all suck. You have to just say goodbye.

if you're limiting carbs rather than eliminating them entirely then Guinness is relatively low at 10gr per 12 oz. But yeah pretty much all of the imperial IPA's are out as they're ~20gr per 12 oz. Founder's All Day IPA is a session beer that's 7gr carbs and is probably the best session IPA I've found.

After playing around with carnivore and keto separately a few years ago, I blended the two starting 3 months ago. I feel a lot better not having the insulin spike from eating carbs and feeling lethargic. While I've been on this plan I removed beer from my routine almost entirely - think I've had maybe 3 in the past three months.

How do you guys give up fruit and feel good about it? I mean vegetables kinda suck taste wise, so I get how we can stop eating those (but they are just straight up good for you to eat). But cutting out fruits??? For 100 calories I can eat half a pound of pineapple that’s tastes better than any candy, and it’s packed with vitamins and minerals.

Keto does some good by eliminating carbs, because now you can’t eat hardly any junk food. But it’s like throwing the baby out with the bath water when you decide to cut out probably the healthiest categories of food.

Do keto but eat fruits and veggies. You’ll get more fiber and live longer (imo).

Nothing wrong with this for fat loss and I've done keto and carnivore before with success, but I will admit my gym sessions and athletic pursuits suffered without carbohydrates.

Hardest part, I eat a few times a week some raspberries, blueberries, and maybe a few strawberries. I still plan on a few times this summer getting into some watermelon. I’ll cut back on everything else those days.

Pineapple is very high in sugar. And people put that high in sugar fruit on their high in carbs pizza.

I eat berries. So blueberries, blackberries, raspberries.

I haven't given up fruit, I just make a point to pick ones with a relatively low glycemic index like berries. I also didn't give up vegetables but again am selective and eat them raw for the most part - mostly bell peppers, carrots, spinach, cucumbers. The veggies are treated like a side dish instead of potatoes, pasta, bread and the fruit is my "dessert".

Another thing it's helped me with is indigestion. I don't snack on junk much, but on days I was careful, I still had bad indigestion and took Prilosec every day. If I missed a day, it was awful. I haven't taken a Prilosec in 2 weeks and no problems.

One of the main benefits of carnivore over keto is your cutting out all processed foods and seed oils. You can get close on keto but there are a lot of products that are marketed towards “keto” that just don’t fit the bill.
