Can animals esp. pets, influence our dreams

So last night I was having my international spy gigolo extraordinare rehash.
Same ol, same ol ..but I digress
I was driving besides azure blue waters speeding top down racing to my next sex appointment, where I noticed these cats piled up on Little Stone wall near the sidewalk near the beach
then when I went past them I heard a sound..a meow sound and that suddenly got me distracted and I became concerned about cats and I woke up and my cat was hungry
is Sophie inside my dreams and controlling me?

yes, I was asleep last night dreaming and my wife's dog jumped on the bed and woke me up. It was a good dream I had just gotten drafted and I didn't even get to find out which sport.

Ok, weird coincidence. I don’t usually have pets in the bed but once the cat snuck in. I didn’t realize it until i woke up from a weird-arse dream that i was chasing a dragonfly and ate it. I woke up and the cat was next to me in a deep sleep.

I have dreams about pets who died a long time ago but I don't have those dreams about departed relatives, which is really weird to me. Like why does a cat that died 30 years ago show up in my dreams and give me the chance to relive a moment with them but not my Grandma?
