Hey. I know everyone wants to talk tariffs but, I want to see the board take on this. Let me clarify the question. Often, people will say the 2nd Amendment allows us to possibly deal with an over reaching government if it comes down to that but generally, very speak about this in more specifics.

Often, liberals act like this means we plan to square off against the entire US Military, but, frankly, that's silly. So, the question. Who do you think is most likely to cause us to NEED to use our 2nd Amendment?

1. The US Military
2. Opposing factions of citizens that the support the government and are not stopped from attacking fellow citizens?
3. The Police

I have an answer, but, I want to see yours first.

THE ANSWER my friends is, if the government over reaches to the point that you are forced to not comply and the government chooses to MAKE you comply, the people who will be coming for you will all be WEARING BLUE. WITHOUT FAIL.

And, if citizen factions supporting the government start attacking you and you choose to fight back............the people who will arrest you for this will ALL BE WEARING BLUE.

Just something to remember.

The government, specifically, but also from everyone else as a result.

"The Government" is not terribly specific.

I mean, sorry, but I don't think anyone is gonna be squaring off with the City Council or the State Legislature.

See. THESE answers are why I asked the question. Because, it's NOT an answer.

If the government goes "off the rails", who will be doing the shooting???

Well, certainly if civil war erupts, that could be the case but even if it does, the government will certainly be on one of the sides so.............who is gonna be doing their shooting for them?

We actually did this, you know.

But the more specific answer is the person entering my home who is uninvited or whose presence endangers me.

The Constitution doesn't specify, but we have Thomas Jeffersons words:
quote:

Thomas Jefferson, while not a drafter of the amendment, offered a vivid perspective in a 1787 letter to William Stephens Smith: "What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants. It is its natural manure." He also noted, "Let them take arms," suggesting that an armed citizenry could resist oppressive rulers. This aligns with the idea of protection from overreach, though it’s more general and predates the amendment’s ratification in 1791.

Um, no.

The question is, if you have to pull out your gun, who are you engaging with? Who's firing back?

Well, you're talking civil war. Which certainly is one avenue.

But, I'm not addressing civil war.

That said, even in the civil war, the government had certain entities working for it that you would have been exchanging fire with so........

Bro, it’s not meant to guarantee you protection, but it sure as heck gives you better odds. But more importantly it gives the “government” pause as to whether “busting in to take you away” (that’s sorta metaphorical language, to illustrate a point) is really worth their own risk, so to speak. It’s quite literally your last line of defense.
