The kid has what it means to be a pitcher. His pitch ability is Greg Maddux like. His command of the strike zone and his off speed pitch are deadly. If Shores struggles this weekend, I’d consider moving Cowan into the starting lineup.

He needs to keep doing exactly what he did tonight

Nobody’s pitch ability is Maddux like. But to your point, no, Cohen is needed at the end of high leverage games

I agree. I think if Shores struggles again you have to give Cowan a look. Eayson is a little ahead of Shores, but if either struggle to get out of 4, you have to give Cowan a shot.

Really tough to take him out of this role, we really can’t count on many to throw strikes out the pen.

His role might be the set up guy

Nah bullpen, high leverage guy that can shut a game down for you.

No his role is to come in, shut shite down when the starter is chased early, or be a 2nd closer

To have 3 closers once (if) Guidry comes back is going to be a massive luxury with our buzz saw of an SEC schedule.

No you give Schmidt the ball on Sunday if Shores continues to struggle. I don’t think he will, velocity always comes back faster than control when you’re coming off of TJ.

I agree. He’s the perfect eraser to come in when a starter is struggling a bit and chew through innings. And if you hand him a lead, it’s doubtful he’ll let it slip.

Been rocked his last 2 outings. He isn’t ready to be an SEC starter.

He’s doing awesome in a crucial role so far. This is kind of like the Holman/Herring dynamic from the home stretch last year (at least I think that was the typical pairing - may have been Jump and Herring).

People need to step up before we can do a lot of things. Cowen can potentially help you win two games from the pen but we need guys to step up enough to not need him to pitch 3 and 4 innings just to win game 1 every week.

He could also start and give you 7 innings to build a lead. I think E and Shores will continue to improve. Cowan is the best pitcher in the team right now. He works anywhere.

Maybe if Guidry was in the pen. I don’t even know if he’s in the team anymore tbh

I don’t know about all that, but it’s nice to have a guy like him for regionals.
