I respect them for not bitching out after it leaked that they were the team complaining

I was against this rule ban until I learned defensive players are not allowed to do the equivalent. There are enough rules already benefitting the offense imo

It's not rugby. Ban it.

Those owner meetings are very cliquey and some owners pull more weight than others

I don’t think it’s an accident that the only team without an official owner is the team bringing it forward. Guessing there’s a bloc of owners who was to see this rule change and decided to make the packers the face of it to avoid any backlash publically or privately from the Luries or their partners

I’m more interested in the rule changes the Lions proposed. No more automatic first downs for defensive holding or illegal contact. The playoff seeding will be determined by record. Both changes have long been needed.

It was illegal for decades and needs to be again.

OR allow players to launch off the backs of another to block field goals.

Spot foul and replay down if short of the sticks? I like that. If you commit the penalty past the sticks, it’s a first down.

I kinda agree that the QB should not be allowed to be pushed forward in this manner

I love to see offensive linemen run upfield to help push a ball carrier forward when they refuse to go down. If you’re okay with pushing from behind in that scenario then for consistency you should be ok with QB’s being pushed forward.

You do realize that the proposal is about the consistency of the rule; especially when the argument for having the rule against defenders is player safety. As it stands a defender cannot push another defender forward to either move the LoS or to affect the play in the backfield. Yet, an offensive player can do it to help gain more yards?

The key is that the defense can’t do the same thing. If you want to keep the rule for offense then you should give the same rule to the defense.

That is different because at that point a forward pass is no longer possible.

The possibility of a forward pass prevents the defense from being able to man up 1-1 on the so called tush push, which gives an unfair advantage to the offense.

That’s why “it’s not rugby” is correct.

So change it so the defender can do this. Problem solved.

For a league so concerned with head and neck injuries I'm surprised they didn't proactively do this already. It is very obviously a risk for that.

It should be banned. It's not balanced with the same rules for the defense and it's frankly not entertaining

League already made it illegal on special teams years ago and made it virtually impossible to block a kick now

Difference is one scores points which is good for ratings and the other stops points which is bad for ratings, I guess. That’s how they see it anyway.

If I’m a DC I’m probably telling my DLine I don’t care if they score or get the first, I want you to murder every knee cap you see and showing my linebackers how to spear like prime WWF Edge on the QB and see how quickly the league finds it to be a player safety issue

It’s not a rugby play, this is always the worst argument.
