I’ll admit that I don’t know much about Leonard Hamilton off the court, so I might be wrong, but he seems like he must be a solid guy to have all those guys show up to support him 50+ years later.

Agree. No matter who he's become, some spew hate , others praise, how he handled that situation 50 years ago and the man it showed him to be was likely the reason those guys still stand by him 50 years later. The true character of man, particularly one dealing with those issues at his age, can only be shielded for so long. Those men likely gained a respect for him even they didn't know was so profound at the time.

He seems like a solid guy, and has been a great coach working at schools not known for their basketball programs prior to him being there.
Finally, the dude looks fantastic for 76 years old. If I didn't know, I'd guess he was in his 50s.
