I am going to submit to you the opening minutes of Paul Greengrass's United 93 (2006):
If you were alive for this particular era of history, the innocence of that morning is perfectly captured by the filmmaker in such a way that you can never truly forget.

Not sure if it’s what you’re looking for but Gladiator is my favorite opening scene of all time.

Saving Private Ryan. No contest.
Gladiator was pretty damn good, too.
People should know when they’re conquered.

Has to be Jaws
those saying Saving Private Ryan forget that the opening scene takes place at the cemetary in Normandy, not the beach scene

Most powerful?
Probably. Its jarring, still blood-curdling and how she begs for God.
The audience felt that immediate "oh shite" this isn't gonna be no fairytale

Nothing beats saving private Ryan

The shot of the rebel ship being chased by the gigantic destroyer was an incredible open which shows the viewer the difference in scale between the two powers, but also sets the stage for the entire saga. Also, at the time, those special effects were the most advanced and realistic on film.
