It’s amazing that these execs are so far up their own asses and their own industry that they can’t see bad hires that a 10 year old would be able to identify. Not saying we’ll hire Shaw or even seriously consider him but why even waste your time?

They are hiring a fall guy for the next 2-3 seasons of pain. No coach with a career on the upswing is going to want anything to do with that.

When does the Saints GM search begin?

Never. That’s the problem.

I mean could they legit be going the Houston Dummy hire route and just going for a washed coach but solid guy to keep whatever minimal roster talent we have from becoming malcontents?

Rooney Rule if they can't get Glenn to commit to interview before he is out of the playoffs

It allows them to make an earlier hire if it comes to that.

I would say Roony Rule, but if Glenn is "supposedly" the main target this makes absolutely 0 sense

Glenn is in the playoffs. He might have told them he cannot interview until later down the road.

And/or they have another guy in mind and want RR out of the way, now.

Lions are on a bye so coordinators can interview this week. Ben Johnson has interviews with the pats and bears scheduled this week and I believe Glenn has some scheduled with the Jets already

They are clearly getting RR out of the way quickly for a reason. They are not hiring Shaw.

However, if they do, I will certainly find it pretty hilarious, trust me.

Possible, just not related to the lions being in the playoffs

I think the RR requires multiple candidates now as well so that could be it

But Shaw had a lot of NFL buzz during his Stanford days and seems to randomly come up every couple of years.

Saints are in the same awkward rebuild spot that other teams have been in and landed even weirder hires in David Cullen and Jerod Mayo so I wouldn’t completely rule it out

Shaw seems to be a common Romney Rule interviewee every year. I wonder what he gets out of going through the interview process knowing that he isn't getting hired?

Could’ve been seen as a good hire a decade ago.
