Blackened alligator is delicious.
Like a mix between chicken and frog.

Much better when tenderized.

Like pretty much anything else, it can be good if prepared properly.

I have only eaten it once. It was pretty good. It has a rather mild flavor.

My policy is that if something is good because it tastes like chicken I’m just going to eat the chicken.

I've eaten it prepared as sausage, deep fried and made a huge pot of alligator sauce piquant and it was all very good.

Chimes fried or blackened alligator back in the day was fire. Not sure if they still do it or not, the last time I called for takeout it wasn’t on the menu.

Good stuff. Blackened, fried, alligator sauce piquante...all good stuff.

It's been back on the menu after a hiatus. They will make a poboy with the blackened gator if you ask. It's delicious, especially with the dipping sauce plus pepper jack cheese.

Good to hear. Back in the day I worked at the Varsity and roomed with Chimes kitchen manager, so that gator is dear to me heart.

Overrated if you ask me, it’s not bad, but it’s also not worth searching for.

Jaw meat is. It's not better than a turtle but it makes a good meal.

The best alligator I've ever eaten.

Agreed. Especially when it was nice sized chunks.

They definitely have a distinct odor when cleaning them but yes it’s good eating.

Eating wise, is there a big difference between farmed raised and wild?

If it's there I'll eat but I'm not going out of my way to buy and cook it.
