Why do boomers keep their houses so freaking HOT? What is the cause here? Is there a reason other than wanting to save a little money each month?
These boomers want to keep their houses 78 degrees inside. Which is completely insane

How would they be saving money by heating their houses in the winter?

Let’s say it’s 75 degrees outside and they have the AC at 78. Zero air movement

It's winter and it has been in the teens for the last couple of days. Air conditioning is free now.

It's 78 indoors without the heat on? Are you in Ecuador?

78? My mid 80s in laws keep their house thermostat on literally 82-83. Not even kidding. My wife immediately brings it up every time we arrive.
It’s seriously just plain insanity and they have to know it.

Believe it or not, there are other places in the country besides places that are currently cold

My parents are older Boomers. Dad keeps his on 71-72. Mom is definitely in the 78 range. I wear short sleeves over there when it's 30 degrees outside

i can vividly remember my boomer
parents telling my greatest generation grandparents it was too hot in the house during holiday gatherings.
the problem isn’t boomers, it’s your generation being too brain dead to realize it’s just that old people get cold easily.

That's why so many old snowbirds migrate to Florida. Canadians too.

78 AC during summer; 72 Heat in winter.

You can't spell cold without old.
I remember as a kid, my parents kept the AC set on 68. Now, my mom is 79 and she has her thermostat set on 79, even in the summer. She wears a long-sleeve or jacket in places under 78 degrees.
