Did any of y'all watch this show back in the day? Random thread, but I was feeling nostalgic.
They did some tacky stuff, but I still found it entertaining (HS kid at the time)

Used to love this show.

I believe they did a big oral history a few years ago and most people that went on that show got royally screwed.
Producers would spend a fortune to put a goldfish tank in the back but ignore the oil leak in the engine. There were tax complications with it too and sometimes they would remove equipment after filming (like they would rip out the play station and tell them they had to buy their own)

This is funny, because I was telling a friend this past week how Pimp My Ride was one of the few shows I could remember watching as a teen.

Some of the cars that they pimped were mind boggling. Thanks for putting a $10,000 TV/DVD/Stereo in my ‘86 Corolla, but the engine just blew up…now what?

My college roommate and I never missed an episode. I am not shocked to hear that they screwed the people who appeared on the show though.

Those MTV days of the early 2000’s had some fun shows with this, Room Raiders, Next, True Life, etc.

When they busted out that black light, it was over

“Yo dawg, we heard you like stockings so we put stockings in your stocking”
First time I’ve thought of this show in years.

That was Room Raiders!

Was interesting as a teen.
It wasn’t until becoming an adult that I looked back and realized how horribly impractical that shite was.

Got a beater car from my dad in high school and he said I’d have to pimp my own ride

Sell the stereo to pay for the car repairs?

True Life was a good show.
I do remember the one episode about teens addicted to energy drinks, that was wild.

Probably not a huge market for a custom fitted car stereo system for a 94 Volvo

Lotta classic True Life episodes
The Jersey True life episode is what started the whole Jersey Shore phenomenon
I’m not sure if anyone still has the thread handy where Joey Cheeseballs from that episode was posting here and threatening to fight posters on here - I think Maximus was the main one he was trying to fight
Then you had an episode about small time MMA that followed a very young Frankie Edgar when he was fighting in ball rooms and making 200 bucks a fight

No he respected Max because Max was a "warrior" for playing football (because Max's avatar was JDR in P/G)
Tommy threatened a famous recruiting reporter with the ching a lings, bc he allegedly called Mrs Perna
You're all welcome for the real Tommy and the fake one
