It's crazy to listen to reporters from yesteryear and compare them to today...

Edward R. Murrow did this live while London was under attack from German bombers on the evening of September 21, 1940. His calm demeanor, his command of the English language, and his narrative description of the events occurring around him are completely lost on this generation of journalists and reporters.

TV reporters can hardly tell the details on scene of a minor car wreck without stumbling over their words.

Reporters today would not be able to handle Winston Churchill. You could be in the middle of a german bombing raid with milions dying in concentration camp and thousands on the front in the Battle of the Bulge.

Meanwhile Maddow, The View, etc...

"Winston Churchil is a drunk"

"Winston Churchill is mean"

"Churcill made a pass at multiple women"

"Churchill insists in driving his staff like slaves and has no work life balance"

"Churchill is a sexist and racist"

I bet that TD'ers son could geolocate his undisclosed position based on his description in the first minute.

command of the English language
English language mastery is one of the main ways I measure a person's intelligence level.

It's a lost art.

The dumbing down of America...sometimes I wonder if it's by design.

Excellent writing skills are a huge advantage in every aspect of life.

Just my $0.02.

ETA: Lol at the irony that I had to fix a typo in this post

They're all lying propagandists, then and now. Best to not listen.

I grew up listening to Walter Cronkite and Peter Jennings. Back then the news may not have been good but it was real.

They are no longer journalists. They are now “media”

I’m very old school even for 60. I love old radio broadcasts period. Grew up with AM radio listening to sports. Still love when the Braves play an afternoon game or double header, I’m tuned in at work.

Much of it was not real, just like today.

I once read "we used to speak the written word, and now we write the spoken word".

Edward R.Murrow did an expose of Joseph McCarthy. He would be pretty unpopular around here today.

Walter Cronkite, Chet Huntley, David Brinkley, Tom Brokaw, Harry Reasoner and company were who I heard almost daily delivering the news.

Unlike so-called journalists of today who strive to create news to fit their agenda.
