I am asking this as an anti-Trump guy. Congrats on your win and feel free to pile it on.

I was talking to a very successful builder in our area who was a big Trump guy, has been since 2016 and had donated to all 3 of his campaigns. He did say he was starting to get nervous how far might push the deportation issue as it could totally collapse the entire construction industry in our area and would 2x labor costs overnight if everything plays out to its fullest extent. He even said it would probably put him out of business because there is no were close to enough qualified labor in the area to backfill.

Hypothetically, massive deportation (eliminating low cost labor) would hit tourism, housing and agriculture significantly which are three areas that have been pummeled by inflation.

He has some easy wins on the table with securing the boarder, going after the cartels and deporting all people here illegally that had been convicted of (edited) crimes.

Thus, my question is given Trump’s ties to the construction and tourism industries, how far does he push this issue? Would will he stop tightening the screws if it starts to cause economic damage or will he continue to go scorched earth?

I think he will have some positive and negative reinforcements to encourage some to self deport.

Probably just those whom they determine are wanted for crimes (or had been convicted of crimes) in their own country and those who have committed crimes here.

I'm sure there will be a couple of high profile, heavily covered busses being loaded with many bleeding heart AOCs crying and protesting, throwing every conceivable strawman at it, locking the whole process of deportation in court proceedings.

Every single illegal immigrant must go back. Including all "anchor" babies.

Anyone knowingly employing an illegal alien should face 10 years minimum in prison and never be allowed to obtain a businesses license again.

Problem solved.

I figure they’re gonna clean out those Venezuelans in those Colorado apartment complexes.

What you’re gonna see is trump taking away the reason to be here. As for labor, most of these building companies never had training programs and a solid labor flow.

The solution to housing isn’t always more housing. It’s eliminating government housing being demanded in good neighborhoods. Therefore there’s no reason for middle class flight.
