Senate appointment in Mississippi would be very interesting. Lt. Governor and Auditor seem to be on collision course for next governor.

She's 65 so maybe this is her last post

But I don't think most people would trade a Senate seat in a deep red state for Ag

She's a very unpopular Senator and will face a decent primary. There have been rumblings that she was up for SecAg but this is the first legitimate source.

Mississippi politics is a fascinating animal. This may be Phil Bryant getting her out to help Delbert, Shad White would be an interesting Senator.

Iv'e been hearing that one for two weeks now. However, I've also been reading Massie has the inside track.

There is talk she might get appropriations.

Keep in mind if a Senator, travel back home paid by government. If secretary, on her own dime.

No one else from the GOP on the House side is getting purged. At least not unless we want Speaker Jeffries in the interim until special elections are held and the GOP can lodge a motion to vacate.

Delbert needs to be put out to pasture. So sick of hearing that democrat's name in MS politics

It’s no secret that she’s not a fan of being a Senator and Ag Chief would be the greatest achievement that she could dream of in her life.

Technically, Tate Reeves could appoint himself to fill her spot, but that would be a bad look. I’m not sure who would get tapped. Maybe Michael Guest. Doubtful it would be Shad. He’s ruffled a lot of Republican feathers these days.

IF she's picked (I have pretty good sources that say it's hers if she wants it), Tate Reeves will appoint himself to the Senate seat. Tommy Duff will run for Gov, with Andy Gipson also running on the Republican side. Delbert Hoseman, Lynn Fitch, and Shaddrack White will all three decline to run for Gov. They don't want any part of running against a self-made Billionaire

It's crazy someone like her can fall into that position. She's has voted pretty good as a senator but her list of accomplishments are almost zero. I don't know much about Duff but honestly I wouldn't mind it if he's Governor

Well. it was crazy that she fell into the U.S. Senate position.

She has no business being a Senator or U.S Secretary of Agriculture.

Agreed. She's one of the least impressive members of Congress, and likely the least accomplished Senator

Went to a unaccredited high school (segregation academy)
BA in criminal justice from Southern Miss
worked as a lobbyist
Mississippi state senate as a Democrat
Mississippi Secretary of Agriculture as a Democrat
switched sides
appointed Senator when Cochran retired
Trump did not support her 2018 campaign against McDaniel
Ran unopposed in 2020

Voted 39% with Biden. She's still a soft Democrat.

She was Ag Commissioner here and is ineffective as a Senator, so I am not sure what would work out better for us.

She has done a good bit for the catfish industry I wouldn’t mind her as Secretary of Ag. I’d love to see country of origin labeling laws everywhere, outside of the southeast a ton of states don’t have those and restaurants pass off Asian catfish imports as domestic fish. It kills our sales and some consumers wouldn’t eat it if they knew where it came from
