Multiple bullet holes could be seen in the overhead bins and a plane door in the aftermath, footage obtained by local outlet Media Libre Haiti showed.

The plane, which was en route from Fort Lauderdale, Fla., had to be diverted to an airport in the Dominican Republic.

Meanwhile, all other commercial flights were grounded at the Haiti airport.

The incident unfolded just two weeks after the airline temporarily suspended its flights to Haiti’s capital after gang members opened fire and struck a United Nations’ helicopter flying nearby.

No US airline should be going to Haiti. And no Haitians should be allowed to travel here

I don't know much about airlines or international travel but I wouldn't have guessed Spirit had flights to Haiti

I think I am most surprised (but shouldn't be) that Spirit actually has flights to Haiti. I didn't think many airlines went there

This is why they put MSY as far from New Orleans as they could.

Probably all NGOs people and/or illegal immigrants wanting to flee to the US or being deliberately trafficked to the US.

No. Puerto Rico is the garbage island shithole

Haiti is a literal shithole and should be leveled with multiple nukes for the good of the western hemisphere

We could just give the nukes to the DR and they would happily do it for us.

American Airlines, Spirit Cancel Haiti Flights As Planes Hit By Bullets
by Gary Leff on March 2, 2024

Violent gang attacks under the direction of Jimmy Chérizier (“Barbecue”) on Thursday near Toussaint Louverture International Airport in Port-au-Prince, Haiti damaged several commercial aircraft while JetBlue took off, fortunately unscathed. American Airlines and Spirit Airlines cancelled their flights from Miami and Fort Lauderdale on Thursday.

Haitian carrier Sunrise Airways canceled flights as well after several of its aircraft were struck by stray bullets. This included a Havana-bound Airbus 320, which suffered damage while parked at the international terminal.

Gang members demolished a wall of the Haiti National Police Academy, located close to the U.S. embassy, and expanded into gunfire near the airport. A JetBlue Airways flight to New York JFK was preparing for departure. Violence also spilled over to Guy Malary domestic airport, where a bullet damaged a window and a chair.

Asked for comment, the captain of the impacted flight told us "Luckily I've been with Spirit a while, so I have some experience with this sort of thing."

years ago when we first started flying there people would smuggle(or at least try to,) chickens on board, one person smuggled their mother's corpse on inside of a hanging garment bag, body was sort of mummified/dehydrated
