I’m out of piston syringes at my hospital currently so I can’t give certain meds to a patient. This is unheard of.

My dad is not able to receive bladder injection treatment because there is a shortage of the medicine, thankfully he can still do keytruda therapy

Has inventory just been kept at a minimum since covid?

May be time for Biden to enact the Defense Production Act to get that shite up and running asap.

They'd have to wake him up first, of course.

He’s not doing anything unless he gets a kickback. You really think he didn’t get something out of this strike stoppage? That man has never done anything unless it lines his pockets.

Basically. Reimbursements from insurances have not kept up with inflation. Hospital administrators have to cut costs to keep the doors open. One of the costs they have cut is inventory. Not much of a problem until something interrupts the supply chain.

quote:

Mass General Brigham is among hospitals that are already implementing measures to make the most of their inventory — such as urging staff to consider using Gatorade or water in situations where that can fulfill patient hydration needs in comparable fashion to an IV drip. The hospital will also refrain from trashing partially-used bags when patients are relocated to new departments.
LINK

1. What kind of hospital has enough money to change bags when transferring a patient to another unit?

2. EMRs are going to go crazy when hypovolemia is listed as a problem and the patient is not on fluids. Quality care alerts are about to be more commonplace than baby oil at P. Diddy's house.
