We all remember the days, back in college or when money was super tight, we had to make do with what we could to eat. The classic “struggle” meal. What was your go-to?

Ramen with a few eggs cracked in to it
On payday me and my roomies would get one of those 5lb slugs of ground meat and a shite ton of canned veggies. Throw it all in a crawfish pot and cook it down. Would last the 3 of us about a week.

Week ends at LSU in the 60's, 5 dollars would cover a bottle of food town bourbon and a large box of ritz crackers for Saturday and Sunday nourishment

Instant potatoes, English peas, and spam all mixed together. Could eat on it for several days. Was something my grandmother made for us while growing up.

Splurging in college was often getting a couple of Fry Daddy's going and everyone brings a different kind of seafood. We weren't chefs, but we could fry frozen shrimp, scallops, fish, hushpuppies, clams, onion rings, fries, and so on, add a quart of slaw and we had a seafood feast.

At LSU in the 2000s, the CEBA Shack had five Pizza Hut breadsticks for two bucks and I would eat them for lunch every day. They were so good and worth every penny of two bucks.

Those Banquet boil in bag meats.
Turkey, Salisbury steak, and chipped beef.
And their cheap creme pies. I wished they still made them.

All my friends lived off ramen back in the day... I've never eaten ramen... my struggle grocery list was a bag of rice, chicken broth, margarine, and a big onion... cooked the rice in chicken broth and margarine with the onion chopped up in it... still do this from time to time my daughter absolutely hates though... I use butter instead of margarine now and beef bone broth instead of chicken broth now
