For all that had problems not being able to view the USC game on ABC, be aware that South Carolina is also scheduled for ABC. I hope for a settlement.

1. If you have ESPN+ that should be a way around this.
2. It's possible that this dispute could be over by that game.
3. frick, and I mean frick directv and disney

Nope. ESPN+ only works through your TV provider. If your TV provider isn’t televising the game, then you can’t watch it on ESPN+.
And… drop Direct TV and go with YouTube TV.

I admittedly don't know the intricacies of the shite show that is cable/streaming these days.
But I know for a fact that I have DirecTV and when the channel went out before our game I flipped over to AppleTV and put on ESPN+ and watched the whole thing.

well that poster is 100000% incorrect. ESPN+ has absolutely 0 to do with your cable provider.
ESPN+ is its own thing, you pay for monthly or annually. It only carries select games/sports. NOT EVERYTHING ON ESPN/ABC is on ESPN+ (in fact most are not)
the poster may have been confusing ESPN+ with the ESPN APP, which does also show live games of the events that are televised on ABC/ESPN etc. But that has literally nothing to do with ESPN+.
so while I have no idea if the LSU/South Carolina game is on ESPN+ or not. that poster was completely wrong.
fwiw the LSU game against Nicholls is on ESPN+ this weekend, which anyone with an ESPN+ account can watch. because it is in no way tied to your cable company

I have no idea. It’s been out forever. Maybe they get confused because all the other streaming services call their stuff “+”.

Only partially false. You can get ESPN+ without a provider but you won’t be able to watch their TV networks on the ESPN+ platform without a provider. So the LSU South Carolina game would be a no go if he’s using Directv to login and they haven’t settled with Disney.
ETA..I see you explained it further in your follow up post

that’s the app, not ESPN+. theyre separate.
ESPN App does/can use a cable provider login and essentially just uses to watch ESPN cable channels on your phone/tablet.
ESPN+ is its own thing and only shows a handful of selected sports stuff/sports.
just looked it up and the Nicholls game and South Carolina game are both scheduled to be on ESPN+, so Directv LSU fans can hold out a couple more weeks

Right we’re on the same page. Even though I’ve got a provider, I like to watch ESPN networks through + because it seems to be a higher quality picture and there is no delay.
I do wonder though if the schedule you’re seeing could possibly mean ESPN + only IF you do what I’m describing above using a provider…meaning the SC game, not Nicholls. Just saying that because I have a friend that didn’t have a provider of any kind and he could never get ESPN televised games through ESPN +.

Who in the hell still has DirectTv? It’s time to save money and cut the cord guys.

People still use Direct TV. Cut the cord 4 1/2 years ago. By far the best thing I’ve done as far as streaming or entertainment services. Maybe they have changed their pricing and models to be more competitive, switching the YouTube TV save a significant amount of money.

Obviously the whole ESPN AND EPSN+ scenario is clear as mud.
Judging from this board, there are eight different opinions on it.
