Obviously we are well aware this is once again a disappointing opening game with piss poor coaching and execution. But what are some positive things you saw that going forward you think the team can build on?

The defense to me honestly looked at least 60% to 70% turned around. I think they got gassed at the end but overall I seen guys flying around I seen push from the d-line I saw some players making plays in the secondary. Obviously they still got to get better in the secondary but overall the defense I gave them a B for the game. If a few bounces go their way they created almost four turnovers. People forget that....the defense played pretty well in my opinion.

The defense looked 100× better than it did at any point last season.

We have a legit dc.

Dline played way better than anyone thought they would.

Nuss took care of the ball. No turnovers until it was over.

Punt/kick return game looks like a threat. Want to see 0 on offense more.

34 year old John emery has juice.

Lacy caught the damn ball.

Ramos was nails kicking the ball in high pressure situations.

76% completion from Nuss.

Should open up more deep ball opportunities. If DB is beat and has his back turned, Nuss should chuck it and let his tall and athletic WRs go up and grab them. Like Burrow said all the time, if the DB ain't looking, he's chucking it up there.

Defense looked more physical and disciplined compared to last year.
Whit Weeks played his arse off. DE’s actually got pressure. Stamps + Woodland looked like really solid pieces.

Had the lead with 6 minutes left up four with the ball…

Nuss looked good when allowed to let it loose.
Zavion Thomas looks like he is a real weapon.
Mason Taylor showed great YAC ability. Obviously Lacy is gonna be our WR1 stud this year… all the receivers are talented.

Nuss got to grow using other WRs I remember someone saying Hilton was a favorite in fall camp. Well now when Hilton gets back Nuss has an added weapon.

I'm paying double for season tickets, pledging money to TAF like its growing on trees for decent parking pass, paying double sometimes 2 night minimumn for Baton Rouge hotel rooms, can't get a decent hot dog or burger at Tiger Stadium although they cost an arm and a leg .......... let me get back to you on positive takeaways. Can't think of any this morning.

This team is overall more talented than last year.

The two slot backs are outstanding, and add a threat with every touch.

Lacy is as advertised. His hands are glue.

The o line pass blocking was outstanding.

We are deep and talented at tight end.

Our Dline is better than we thought. Especially our end rushers. They were making plays.

Overall, our D is much more cohesive and organized. We had opportunities for turnovers 4 times last night and didn't get the right bounce.

This team is going to actually be very good, i think. Our glaring weakness is that we lack depth and talent in the defensive backfield. It's just very hard to hide that against a good quarterback.

Wrs look good. I liked how we used Thomas early. Nice to see Anderson come on. Need to get Daniels more involved. Lacy going into witness protection second half was no bueno.

Emery looks like the RB we thought we were getting 6 years ago.

OL was solid in pass pro. Wont mention run game

Decent pass rush and blitz packages

LBs made some plays. Probably Jones’s best game

Stamps looks to be getting better.

I know this is a positive thread but our safeties fricking suck and have for years.

Anyone who can’t see the positives from this game is a whiny childish bitch.

The defense is clearly on the rise. The right coaches are in place and the incoming recruiting class will finally have us back to a level that we have come to expect from LSU defenses prior to 2020.

Nuss was clearly well prepared and has the ability to lead this team. No he isn’t a finished product but there is no reason to think he can’t lead this team and program to great things.

The team was prepared and came out on a huge stage and wasn’t overwhelmed by the moment. No it wasn’t a perfect game an yes mistakes were made but the team has potential and as long as we improve over the course of the season, the same way we have the past two seasons under Kelly, this can still be a fun and successful season.

Now, the offensive line was supposed to be our strength and was a disappointment overall. Especially since this was not a stellar defense, although they also look improved from last year under new coaching the same way ours did. But still, the coaching staff clearly expected to be able to lean on them to establish the tone and they simply didn’t do that.

As for the coaching, the play calling was frustratingly inconsistent and conservative. Nuss came out on fire and was clearly ready for more responsibility to control the outcome of the game, but the staff refused to open up the playbook and stretch the field the way USC was willing to do with their own QB in almost the exact same situation.

The biggest negative, other than the penalties, was the continued inability to bring in elite talent in the backfield. That LSU hasn’t had a legitimate stud at RB in five seasons is truly unbelievable and unacceptable.

Yes, losing three straight openers sucks. But it’s also unprecedented to play three straight ranked P5 neutral site games to start a season, so the timing of these great matchups during a rebuilding phase was just shite luck.

I expect we will see plenty to be excited about over the next three months and also plenty to show that we aren’t quite fully reloaded yet.

This incoming recruiting class will change that.

Woodland

Nuss when we don’t handcuff him

Lacy when we throw him the ball and he doesn’t emulate shooting his opponent
