A couple of Earl Long stories I heard once.
Long was walking to the capitol when a man started cussing him out. Long told a state trooper, hit him, sergeant. The trooper did just that. When he returned, Long said "Thank you, Lieutenant." Think the trooper's name was Wiley, later became a Colonel.
There was a grocery store downtown. Long was in there one Saturday morning. Young kid working there. Someone else told the kid that was the Governor. DIdn't believe him. Man said go ask him so the kid did. Unfortunately for the kid, the Governor started berating him, something about don't they teach you anything in school, etc.

Still consistently the worst thread starter by far around here.
Well done.

Stories about the hospital would be more interesting than the shitty, corrupt politician.

My aunt and uncle bought his house after he died. It had a button on the floor under the dining table that rang a bell in the kitchen. That's all I got.

The only Wiley ever to be LSP colonel was Wiley McCormick (an EWE man) who was in high school when Earl Long died, but I have heard that story before.
Here's the actress who played the stripper Earl was banging back-in-the-day:
Here's Blaze Starr IRL:

I have a great story about his wife Candice

His wife is a distant relative of mine.
I knew a fella who worked in the maintenance department at Southeast Hospital back in the 1950's. He remembers when Earl was there. He said that everywhere Earl went, he had something like ten state troopers flanking him.
That's all I got.

My grandpa went to Fortier high school for one year and Russell Long was there as a student, too.

The one I always heard was he was running against a car dealer for governor. Told the crowd he is a mighty fine fellow, mighty fine. If I was going to buy a car I would sure buy one from him but if I was gonna buy two I would go someplace else. Two cars would be too big a deal for him.

We inadvertently met her while touring the Old Governor's mansion. I was about 12 yrs old with a friend and my brother and mom.
We were walking in areas roped off for tourists when we saw a kind of over dressed red-headed older lady with a couple of people holding cameras and other equipment. They were walking around areas that we weren't allowed to go in. That's when my mom and a few other parents/older folks realized it was Blaze Starr and it was "hollywood people" with her.
She acknowledged us and gave an appreciative "Hello". that's all I got.
