So many new golfers during that time that never learned it.

Don’t talk when someone is over the ball.

Let faster groups play through if you aren’t waiting.

Don’t step in someone’s line on the green

Furthest from the hole plays first.

Basic golf stuff that a lot of golfers on a random day have no concept for.

I'll push back on this one. All else being equal, yes. However, ready golf should be taught as the primary order of playing.

It drummed up alot of new golfers who maybe didnt grow up around the game is all. I've noticed the same with fishing. However, you still have golfers who grew up around the game and have no etiquette either.

It definitely killed the etiquette of raking sand traps since most courses removed the rakes during the pandemic.

The rakes are back but the use of them is not.

I think it’s just a bunch of people that didn’t grow up playing, so they never had a mentor to teach them all the ins and outs of etiquette.

It was like that before Covid, but may be amplified now.

Big time. Nobody rakes bunkers anymore.

The amount of greens that look like the eastern front. I've even offered to fix someone's pitch mark in front of them. Lazy frick

I will admit to being a very new player. Not even from Covid, but just within the past 2 months. Prior to these two months, I had gone once with my dad before he passed as he was wanting to get into it and we had no clue what we were doing, but we enjoyed the time together. Prior to that, the only other golf experience I had was playing in a church scramble while a senior in high school with some of my buddies, and we got cussed out for not knowing some of the "rules". We were not in any way being dicks and not trying to purposefully "harm the game". We just didn't know any better.

As I've gotten older and gotten into the game, I do have an appreciation for the etiquette and formalities as I have learned a little more in my short journey, but also know that those same rules is what led a grown man to cuss out a bunch of teenagers. I hope to never be that guy....the rule stickler. At the end of the day, it's a sport and a game. Both of which are things in life that should be enjoyed.

I see it as boating. There are a ton of rules and etiquettes to boating. If I bought a boat and went out on the river and just did what I wanted too, it would piss a bunch of people off. Golf just has a much cheaper barrier to entry. Respect the game. Etiquette is there for a reason.

Yes too many of the General Population playing now. Even worse are the Jr Tournaments my kid plays in, A vast majority of the kids have no fricking clue. Talking about walking in lines, not spotting the ball, stand beside their marker even if it is a foot behind the hole when someone’s putting. It’s awful to watch and takes all,the elegance and respect away from the game.

On the green or multiple people in the fairway, absolutely.

Other than that we play ready golf.

And that's the parents or coaches/instructors fault. Can't blame a 10 year old on that.

I’m not blaming the kids, It is the idiot parents that have no idea. No shot a 14 year old playing in a tournament walked up to,the green putted out from 8 feet, took the flag out laid it on the collar while the 2 other kids in the group were still off the green with 10 yard chips, Myself and another dad who played at Miss St thought the kid was just gonna mark his ball.

I’m a little older(64) and grew up on the course. All the ‘rules’ were instilled.
Things change, especially with casual golf, but some of the etiquette is pretty bad.
Maybe because of ‘scrambles’ but why does somebody think it’s ok to stand 5 feet behind me to see the break on a putt when we are not in a ‘scramble’.
Also, stop staring at your phone between holes or shots. If there’s a real reason, I understand, but otherwise it slows down the game.

Good Lord this... can't tell you how many time just my daughter and I go play at our home course mind you and we get held up by 5somes.. And the two us play extremely quickly w/ a typical cart round we're through 18 in 3 1/2 hours max... But when assholes just won't let us pass it definitely slows shite down... Normally we try to catch them at the turn and jump out in front.. They don't always stop unfortunately

Last thing. You really don’t want me elaborating on golf etiquette. It is a pet peeve and I wish it wasn’t.
Pin in or pin out? Along with who hits first off the tee this drives me nuts. Two people want it in and the others want it out.
Eyesight not what it used to be, I am happy to keep the pin in on a 45 footer, but from 5 feet I just can’t.

I’m pretty lenient with beginners when it comes playing order/where to stand etiquette. I’ll tell them something in a friendly way, but I don’t get upset or anything.

What drives me nuts is seeing guys play fivesomes, or take forever looking for balls or something. Or treating the course like shite, mainly driving too close to greens or hitting multiple shots from the fairway in the same spot and not filling their divots. My dad taught me, and one of the first things he told me was fix two or more ball marks on each green. Still do it to this day.
