My step dad bought 3 of those UV light germ killer things for the bedrooms. Almost $100 each. Wtf do they even do?

I thought those were germ tanning beds since they're too small for a spray tan

Those things are really dangerous. They were installed in Cobb County schools during Covid, and the teachers damn near had to actually come back to work because of them. Sure, one of them was finally able to sabotage the system and the lights ended up getting ripped out, but it was a really close call.

The theory is that light in the 210-215 nm range will kill pathogens while bouncing harmlessly off human skin.

I travel with one...use it in hotel rooms. Hope it works, otherwise I am just foolish and waste time.

Hospital surgical areas use them including inside the air ducts. Being a department manager for a chain of 17 day surgery centers put me in meetings with plant/equipment updates from facilities management. One of the things they had to check manually was that the duct lights were back on after a power outage and systems restart.

Trump suggested these and was ridiculed, yet here we are and, once again, he's proven correct

Our sewage sanitation system at work uses UV lights.

Offshore rigs I’ve worked on in Africa had these and I never got sick so I assume they work.
