That opening scene set the tone for the movie.
I'd like to know just how many people, after seeing "Jaws", didn't get in the water for ages when going to the beach.
Much like the shower scene in "Psycho" when women, and some men, wouldn't take showers if alone in their homes.

I still won't swim any deeper than neck level and even then I'm freaking out. If I can't feel the bottom, forget about it. And yes I know, most shark attacks occur within 10 yards of the shore in 3' of water.
She was also in the opening scene of "1941" where Speilberg had her somewhat reprise her role from JAWS. Nice shot looking up the mast. ;)
Got to meet her at a horror convention a few years back. Super sweet woman and really appreciated people knew who she was and that she even had a fandom. I shyly asked if I brought my Penthouse to her would she sign it. She did get a little embarrassed by that. She thanked me for asking her first, but if I brought it later, she would After that I didn't have the heart to. So yes, she was in Penthouse, January 73 for those so inclined. Love that 70s...natural style.

Jaws and Psycho both, inexplicably, made me terrified of the bath and shower as a kid.
