I’m rewatching the first season since it’ll be two years between the first and second. It is much better than I remembered and is an incredible interpretation of the Fire & Blood book. Yes, the Velaryon‘s being black was an odd decision but overall there is very little forced diversity that you see in Witcher, Wheel of Time, Rings of Power, etc.
HBO has a cash cow if they can continue in this universe with the planned projects they have in this quality which is exciting. Aegons conquest and Dunk & Egg will be great. Roberts Rebellion will be sure to follow

I've rewatched it twice already but I'll do another one right before season 2 comes out.

It wasn’t even that they were black valyrians more so than the fact they expect us to believe that the dominant seafaring people were black people. Everyone knows black people cant swim.

quote:the only thing that took me out of the show was the kings daughter and her children. Her husband was black, her kids were clearly not biracial. “We” all know they weren’t his kids but the rest of the realm only suspect it. There’s not even a tiny chance they are legitimate but she’s carrying on like she’s being attacked LOL. It’s just dumb

This scene is absolutely perfect. Viserys calming the realm one last time and thwarting attempts to destroy the kingdom from within

Pretty in keeping with GOT characters who are mostly all bad people with massive pride/ego issues. You’re not supposed to admire any of the main players, just hate one more than the others

I don’t care about them being black, but it is a little blatant for the story line. It takes most of the bastard innuendo out of it.
And since they were going to race swap someone no matter what, at least they did a great job with the Sea Snake. That actor knocked it out of the park.
And I can’t not see King Ezekiel and Carol every time Corlys and Rheanys are on screen together.

Thanks for starting this thread. Decided to start a rewatch today. Forgot how good this was.
