Just an observation from someone who is not an expert re baseball:
One of the things that happened in the early non SEC games that are not happening now is the number of "free" base runners we had because of walks & hit batters. That changed those two or three run HR's into one run HR's.

Competition increased. SEC baseball is no joke. Very intelligent baseball guys have said that the SEC compares to minor league baseball.

Statistics show that bases-on-balls, especially lead-off bases on balls/HBP. have a fairly high probability of scoring. Skip used to harp on the probabilities of this all the time. That and throwing a pitch anywhere near the strike zone on 0-2 count.

One of the biggest reasons we won Friday--didn't walk a single batter. Also, why Holman's performance Saturday was so impressive and showed such huge nuts. He walked a ton of guys, but after the 1st, he'd just get the bases loaded and promptly strike out the side. But that was an anomaly. He can't be doing that again. Even if he keeps escaping, it gets his pitch count up and we need him to go as deep as he can.
