Offenses are way more deadly than being on the defensive side.
Ukraine will run out of men long before Russia. All Russia has to do is dig in.

Yea I’m sure he’s fine with losing all those ships, aircraft, and other military equipment. Russia can easily replace those right? Not saying Ukraine is winning by any means but it’s definitely not going the way Putin hoped.

This isn't really saying much considering how stupid they are.

The US is just as responsible for prolonging this conflict. Our overlords haven’t funneled enough of our tax dollars back into their pockets yet.

How expensive is it? Please use reputable citation that shows the Russian balance sheet and financial statement.
8% of Russian GDP is going to this war.
About 1/3 of 1% of US, EU, and UK GDP is going to this war.
So that's a snapshot for you.

A country with a GDP of $4 trillion is deliberately prolonging an attritional conflict against an economic block with a GDP of $60 trillion in the hopes that he will break them economically?
You still think you live in a rich country and not one living on a credit card?
US debt is 115% of GDP
Russian debt is 20% of GDP.
We are being bled, we are a dead man walking.

Or perhaps Putin is dead set on investing the entirety of Ukraine?

Can we just get to the point of the little old Russian ladies fighting the little old Ukraine ladies because I would pay to watch that

They have lost 1/4 of their awacs, someone like 15% of their fighters, well over half of their operational armored vehicles, and half a million troops, and at least 6 s-400 installations at half a billion dollars each. You really think that's what's going on?
Russia prolonging Ukraine warby burke985
To drain American resources, has to be the only reason this war still going on.

Granted, I'm a pessimist when it comes to governments, but I don't think NATO really cares if Ukraine wins or not. I think their goal is just to ensure that Russia is sufficiently degraded militarily that they will lack the capacity to roll further west.

Generally speaking, amongst technological peers, the attacking forces suffer 3 times the casualties of an entrenched defending force. Ukraine has just under 1/3 the population of Russia. That's why this war remains a stalemate.

Soviet era equipment?
Muslim conscripts?

Makes perfect sense.
Indeed, those aspects do.
I noted this many months ago.

It’s being prolonged by the people who run our country to enrich themselves with printed money. It’s just getting more annoying for them because the truth is exposed through private journalism and social media. Which is exactly why they are going after control of the internet and social media companies they don’t control right now. It was easy back in the day to say Iraq had WMDs because stupid people believed what they were told. Not anymore.

I'm just a student of history. While the 3:1 ratio isn't a hard-and-fast rule due to the number of variables, it's a good rule of thumb. Due to Western assistance, Ukraine is operating as a technological peer to the Russians, which is why Russia hasn't been able to break the stalemate with the forces they've used so far. If they were trading casualties 1:1, this thing would have been over a long time ago.

I think it's been longer than intended, but in the process Russia is getting to work some of the flab out of their military.
And just to keep perspective, hitting Ukraine is a bigger target than anything we've done.

quote:The war is still going on because Russia badly miscalculated the result. Putin was led to anticipated a quick Ukrainian collapse after a shock-and-awe blitzkrieg. Russian analysts underestimated Ukrainian capacity and resolve in Feb/March 2022, and overestimated themselves in the same arena (as did the CIA and MI6).

Without air superiority, battlelines are a WWI style stagnant quagmire. With the US and UK scuttling peacetalks, the war drags on pointlessly. Excepting the latter, this war would have ended in April 2022, two years ago.

I'm guessing that none of those numbers are accurate.
