In 2025, you will need to show bank statements to visit Brazil

Hot on the heels of the European Union postponing (again) its much-mooted ETIAS program, which will require visitors from most non-EU countries to obtain pre-travel clearance, Brazil has pushed back the start of its new visa system for travelers from the US, Canada and Australia.
However, if 2024 is the year of the reprieve, 2025 is when everything will hit home. And for travelers from those three countries heading to Brazil, it’ll hit home, hit their bank balances – and require them to share their bank statements, too.

based on how things are going politically, I’m not sure you’d want or even be allowed to visit Brazil as an American citizen.

But why?
Brazil is one of the hardest countries to visit from the US. They make it intentionally hard for us to visit because they feel like we make it hard for them to come here.
They actually slacked up some on the requirements because they were trying to get more tourists. This is just notification that they are going back to what they used to do. When I used to go there you had to go in person to New Orleans or Houston to get a visa. And even then they only saw a few people a day. It was a huge PITA.

Or, you can skip Brazil. Way overhyped: Rio stinks and all the women have butts like you’d think only exist in North Baton Rouge hair and nail places.

In person is a pain. For India I had to mail my passport to the Indian Consulate in Houston. I'm sure "losing" a few of those a year is a good way to make some black market money or something.
Anyway, the neat thing about those types of hurdles is the visa page in the passport always looks cool as hell. Much better than a stamp.

Is this where you had to tell them your parents names for some unknown reason?

I don't go to countries where I can't just show up as an American.
Hasn't steered me wrong yet
