Ole Pedro Leon is hitting well. Though I have no doubt if he was called up, he'd strike out like it was going out of style.

Abreu… I’m not sure if I can waste energy on him anymore. Trash in the field and the plate.

Counting the 6-5 showing in the postseason last year, this team went 14-15 in its last 29 games of 2023 and is now 4-9 in 2024. So that’s an 18-24 record over the past 42 games with largely the same group intact.
Those 42 games are not even a third of a season, but they’re also not a 10-game stretch, either. It may be an accurate reflection of what this team now is. You have 5 starting pitchers on the DL. You have a mess in the bullpen. You have two first basemen who shouldn’t be on the roster, and a third baseman isn’t worth a shite half the season. And you have another hole in center, along with a right fielder who acts as if he doesn’t give a shite.
Throw in a new manager who was passed over multiple times by other teams for open managerial positions (though whose decisions are still an upgrade over the dipshit who left). I hope I am completely wrong, but this is not a good team right now.

this team sucks but im not gonna blame anything more than injuries. Look at who has started games for us this year?
If we really had
Verlander
Framber
Javier
Mccullers
Garcia
Urquidy would be in the pen along w/ murfee and graveman
I mean lord we're missing 8 legitimate pitchers.
Imagine that starting rotation where only Javier is ok and he's pitching well with a pen of
Urquidy
Hunter Brown
Montero
Graveman
Abreu
Pressly
Hader
JP France and Seth Martinez wouldn't even be up.
Injuries are part of the game, it's unfortunate but this team is good, they're running out a minor league pitching staff most days and that just won't work.
The offense is terrible the way it's constructed. Abreu adds nothing at this point, Meyers getting AB over dubon is silly. I'd like to see caratini play 1b more he can't be worse than abreu. I'd like to see bregman dropped lower.
2b- Altuve
DH -Yordan
RF -Tucker
C - Yainer
3B - Bregman
SS - Pena
1B - Caratini
LF - Chas
CF - Dubon
Just run with that lineup and don't switch it up everyday, just give it a week at least.

Here's a fun stat
We're inside the top 10 for most at plate appearances with RISP
And in the bottom 6 fewest hits with RISP

The Astros are 4th in baseball in total hits. They are 19th in runs scored.
Another fun stat.
2 ways to look at it:
Been a problem for a few years now in stretches, especially at home. They can’t be this bad forever
Maybe this is the year we can’t overcome it

Yep I'm a general believer in the process of putting yourself in constant advantage situations everything will even out over the course of a long baseball season, but even as positive as I am really starting to think that just might not be the case for this team.

Certainly feels like it.
I think the biggest difference is we don’t have the middle relief and backend (at least performance wise) to go 1-12 with RISP and win a game 2-1
