It’s Coleman

Herring last threw Friday.. he's ready to go
Just interesting that in the view of most on here, that Herring pitched last Friday so he’s ready to go. But… Holman, who started last Friday, isn’t and needs to stay in his regular schedule.
Let’s call this for what it is. Jay isn’t pitching Holman tonight, because he thinks his best chance to win 2/3 is lose tonight and win Fri & Sat.

Herring didn't throw 100 pitches and isn't the announced starter. Even if we want to call it what you suggest, why does it matter what we call it. Jay might be pitching off. Ok. So what?
ETA: We just came off a postseason where Johnson bucked strategy and pitched Skenes on schedule against a 4-seed. The idea that he isn't concerned about pitchers' schedules is refuted very easily by looking at just last year.

Well Jay said that played no part in it. Doubt he’s lying. Don’t see him as the type to do that

I think this stuff is overblown because we see LSU's offense struggling. This very team beat Jon Voight's car earlier this season. The idea there is a pitcher out there we would concede to doesn't seem likely to me.

Interesting. Coleman just pitched on Sunday, albeit 30 pitches..but that's still a quick turn for him again. Get the juices flowing, Jave.

He better throw strikes, something he’s struggled with since surgery. Arky is going to sit dead red FB

You can play a drinking game tonight every time LSU strikes out and be plastered by the end of the game

JJ is always super analytical in how he coaches... doesn't rely on his "gut" much to make decisions... could be a bit of his problem this year???

Coleman likely starting because he is most comfortable in that spot then you bring in Herring for long relief and then let game dictate back end

I would be fine with either starting. Both are capable of having a very solid outing. It also wouldn't shock anybody to see either struggle either. We just hope for the best tonight.

Do you really think Jay would ever say publicly that LSU doesn’t have a good chance to win tonight even with their best pitcher so they are going to play for games 2 & 3?

Might as well start grooming Anderson for the role.

Why are we not throwing Holman?
Keeping him on 7 days rest?

IMHO, I don't think this is so much about Holman. Rather, it's more about keeping Jump on schedule and uncertainty with Hurd.
IOW, if I pull a thread here, I may get three wrinkles over there.

Jay pitched Skenes game 1 in every single series regardless if it started on Thursday or Friday last year. Didn’t matter if he had 6 or 7 days rest. If it was game 1, Skenes started. So… your point is moot.
