The new spring league should do a hard pivot and do the following:
1. Declare the end of politics and woke BS in the league. Football only.

I thought they instituted the current rules to limit kickoff returns because kickoffs are violent?

Just use the pro bowl format
Everyone is safe
Scores will approach 100 points per game

Kickoffs aren’t inherently dangerous, it is the high-speed impacts that come from a 20-30 yard sprinting head start in blocks on a kickoff that were causing the concussion levels the NFL didn’t like.
This rule change eliminates those high-speed impacts and provides an opportunity to keep returns in the game while nearly eliminating head injuries.

So the brilliant playcall that helped turn the momentum in the Saints favor in the SB now is illegal?

A kickoff rule set that actually encourages the kicking team to put the ball in play so we get a return? I'm shocked they are doing this, but in a good way. I'm interested to see how it works in practice. It does kind of suck that it takes away the surprise onsides, but how often were those attempted anyway? I'm more than willing to give those up if it means kickoffs return to being an actual real part of gameplay again, as opposed to the meaningless pantomime they are currently. I hope they bring this to the college game.

Opening play of the NFL season, kick fielded at the goalline and the returner brings it out. He has a pre-made wall of blockers in front of him. He breaks it down the sideline until he is brought down by the kicker with a hip drop tackle. First and goal!

This is so fricking trash. Just imagine the buildup of the Super Bowl kickoff and this is what they do. LOL

Great change honestly. Kickoffs have been pointless time wasters for the last decade.

If an onside is opted for, it will follow traditional NFL rules for that play.
So if they don't decide they like the look the defense is showing and want to kick it away do they have to call a timeout? What if they want to do the pooch kick onsides where they pop it over the main line of defenders 15-20 yards downfield?

The tackling rule change could be the most significant rule change the NFL has ever made

The Rock has brought back wrestling and the Kickoff all in one week

Sounds like NFLs strategy to squeeze in another 15 minutes of Light Beer and Truck Commercials during 4-hour game with about 15 minutes of actual sport.

Kick it through the end zone. Touchback. Receiving team gets it at the 30.

They can’t.
