Most of the dolts commenting on here have never run anything. Never built anything. Never been responsible for the bottom line of anything. They are clueless emotional vagina bleeding whiners. They know absolutely nothing about what they had on Wade. What they had on the football program. They really don’t know anything but that their personal enjoyment was interrupted and that is all that matters. Yes,I don’t know either BUT if firing Wade did save the football program then Woodward did the right thing. Anyone who disagrees with that is what I described above. And you didn’t love Wade any more than I did. I’m just not what I described above and over it.

But THERE IS a racial aspect to why the baseball fans are threatened by men's basketball potential success. The Jethro's on here will down vote away, but it'll be because I'm right and struck a nerve

The board of Supervisors voted unanimously to fire Wade. I wasn’t Woody’s decision to make

This isn’t upset
Most people don’t care
Now Kentucky fans are what you’d refer to as upset

McMahon may build a winner here, who knows (I have my doubts he's built for this era of college athletics) but I think the men's basketball fan base has just grown tired of the continued promise of a slow build.
Farewell and Adieu. (As Quint told Hooper regarding the Shark cage in "Jaws")
If you can't build a successful basketball program in three seasons at LSU, you don't need to be here......

So now watch Kentucky hire Will Wade
I can tell you a large portion of the Kentucky fan base was not happy with Cal before the year started. I can only imagine the backlash right now.
I don't think they hire WW, but it would be so ironic if they did as I believe Cal was a major player in a very conscious and coordinated effort to bring WW down.

I think the real problem is we don't have a history to fall back on. WE have had some good teams, but overall no long history of men's success in BB.
I think that's some of it, Dale had established a passionate fan base in the 80's and early 90's but he was a big part of taking the air out of it - he started mailing it in and his last 4 years were horrific.
Unless you hire a very dynamic personality with a huge track record of success.....like say the women did with Kim Mulkey, the road to building a fan base back for LSU hoops will be long and hard.
And let's be honest, the men's version of Kim Mulkey ain't coming here for hoops.
I like CMM and want him to succeed. But even if he does it will likely be a long an slow process and because of his personality, which is to be kind, not dynamic - the build up of a passionate fan base would be a slow process as well.

LSU basketball will get better.

My hope is that if he does succeed here and builds a winning program, it's sustainable and consistent because of the way it was built. Brian Kelly is a good example of someone who's not so charismatic but is (hopefully) building a program in sustainable way.

I was told WW was fired because he wasn't Scott Woodward's hire.

Didn’t read the book of a comment but these mutable people on this board will be negative and unhappy no matter what. It’s their existence that is sad.

It's a media-driven idea that coaches have to be charismatic, especially when the cameras are rolling. And casual fans love to take grip of that, when it matters very, very little.

In most cases I would agree with you, in the case of LSU basketball it sure would help.

Why on Earth would Kentucky replace Cal with a coach who is similar but below him in every category but carries a ton of baggage with him?

It has much more to do with engaging and creating a fan base yes, that was basis of my take.

ha! are you kidding. Cal's two teams before he came to KY were put on probation. That don't scare them at all.
