Catfish and Shrimp industry, yall need to push more places to use local and not imports. It is a shame how many restaurants use import.

The people who I know there are wonderful people. It seems like life is good there for the people who make it good.

That’s a restaurant overcharging. I can go to an all you can eat catfish buffet here for 20 bucks a person

Issaqueena County is number 1 among the poorest counties in the country. Holmes County is number 7. Both in the Delta Region
And they have more counties from Kentucky on that list
Just as many from Alabama
Multiple from LA, and Texas
That also household income - what people show on their taxes
If they did net worth it wouldn't even be close to the poorest

We had the Franklin Parish Catfish Festival in the 80s. Haring Pride was a major player. They still process catfish, but they’re into making and bagging dog food now as well.

Belzoni, Mississippi's World Catfish Festival drew more than 20,000 in 1984

I know one of the guys in those delta pride pictures.
I met up with him and my parents one time in Oxford to go to an LSU Ole Miss game.
My dad has stayed friends with all these diff business guys from these industries.

Interesting list. It was surprising to see only one West Virginia county.

No one from Louisiana should be shitting on Mississippi.
The actual “Mississippi Delta” is mostly in Louisiana. I’m not sure why people on here assume this is Mississippi. It spreads over Arkansas, Mississippi and Louisiana.

I used to work in Rolling Fork.
One man told me the three biggest industries in the Delta are agriculture, agriculture and agriculture.
That would explain the massive deer.
And if you are in Greenville, go to the original Doe's for a badass steak.

I can buy a box of frozen fillets at the plant for 5-6 dollars a lb right now. The ones who jack up prices are the middle men I.e Sysco/US foods.
Pond bank price is current 1.10/lb and at the gate of the plant is 5-6 range/lb
