A fish only sw system is no more difficult than a fresh.
Yea it would be fish only.
Something like this:
Do I need a sump for fish only or can I get away with a hang on back for starting out?

You want a sump, but you can do saltwater with only hang on equipment, but no get a sump or an "all in one" set up.
It is not any harder than freshwater, just way more expensive. People often neglect their freshwater tanks so they think salt is harder, its not, they have just been neglectful to their fresh setups so when doing the regular maintenance on a marine tank they think its more work.
I say it is more expensive, but a planted discus tank can rival the cost of a reef, but both are gorgeous.
