It's wild how many dollar generals there are in the rural South. You can drive like 10 miles and see 3 houses but 5 dollar general stores.

Yeah they’re everywhere. Our local one appears to be unstaffed most of the time since it got self checkout.

This is the truth. A few years back I had a statewide job in Georgia where I had to travel throughout the state frequently and every little hick town had at least one dollar store. Many would have a dollar store but not one stoplight

It's the only way for DG to make more money. It's shocking how little profit a single store will turn in a day. So they have to keep expanding to increase revenue.

Sure, there is one near me that I visit often.

They are not Family Dollar which is what the thread is about.

Dollar General is a fierce competitor to Walmart. Walmart started building more neighborhood markets and less supercenters

They are like roaches, I've seen them in rural communities between populations of 50 and 100.
