Best combo MIF we’ve had in a good while. Really highlights how important a stellar second baseman is.
Braswell Hasn’t been our best shortstop, but he’s way over average and extremely capable.
Looking forward to these two continuing working together throughout the year.

Things are really starting to click with Milam and Brasswell.

There's no replacement for a short secondbaseman.

I feel comfortable with Braswell out there.

Milam's hands are so freaking quick and Braswell has been playing pretty dang good. I tried telling someone that if they keep turning 2 like they are doing, the middle infield isn't changing . Even if Jay has to put them batting 8-9 (he won't, but just a hypothetical), they are playing too well together to change that up.

Braswell has been very solid defensively, and he's seeing the ball well at the plate too. He's squaring up a lot of balls that just aren't finding the grass.

Those plays are rally killers, frustrate the other team, and obviously keep the PC down lengthening their outings.

I had forgotten how routine a double play could be after last year. It’s been beautiful to watch so far

They have been really good. When's the last time that combo didn't start a game? There was a lot of expectation/speculation that there would be a lot of shuffling early season but that seems to have calcified pretty well when milam proved he could handle himself well both at the plate and defensively.

it’s feels like we’ve already had as many DP as we did last year

Braswell and White have to be two of the most unlucky so far with the bat
Both have hit the ball very hard at times with nothing to show for it
Except when they are out of position on some of the shifts they are making all the routine plays which is what you need to do consistently, they just need Jones to make the routine catches at 1B

And White still leads the team in hits

I noticed this too. Both have really quick hands IMO. It seems as if the ball never touches their glove, but it’s still very smooth and natural with them.

Middle infield was a question mark heading into the season, it is nice to have that set heading into conference play.

Best thing so far is I have yet to see a bad feed.... from all different angles, both of them put the ball chest-up and rising to the other. It's really a thing of beauty so far.

Fun fact. We've turned 10 DPs so far this season through 17 games. We turned 19 all of last season in 71 games
We're also 4th in the SEC in fielding% so far with a .980. At this point last year we were sub .950. Our fielding is substantially better than it was last season

As you say Braswell is a good SS but IMO Milam is the key to turning 2.Monster's elite catch and throw for double killing is as good as it can be done.
Milam has speed and range as a second baseman that's at the top of infield position players in SEC.
For me Milam is the greatest surprise for 2024 team...another great one from New Mexico !
